Probably been asked numerous times....laptop manufacturers....who is the best?

I currently have a 2019 Lenovo Yoga C930 which I like, but seems to be having issues so in the market for a new laptop.

Would like something with dedicated graphics, just because I might play some low level games (FM24 for example), but not a hard gamer so is something like a 3070ti enough? I have a Legion 7 in my basket but is this overkill? Dell have been recommended and can get a discount at HP...

Soldered RAM also seems to be a sticking point, but is it really if you get 32GB from the get go?

I won't even start on CPUs....but leaning to AMD Ryzen

Any advice is really appreciated as I am very out of touch

Lonovo legion is great. But if you're concerned about overkill then the Loq and Ideapad Gaming ranges from Lenovo are a great option too. They both use the same build as Legion do now with their more recent models but for a lower price point if you don't need super powerful hardware for the games you have in mind.

Low level games and 32GB RAM + 3070Ti both seem like a little much honestly. I'm still on a 3060 and 16GB RAM which is more than enough for someone that isn't a hardcore gamer.

As for CPU. Definitely go Ryzen. They are more efficient for laptops meaning longer battery life, run cooler so less fan noise, and still give fantastic performance for the money. Intel used to have the edge but in more recent years AMD are streets ahead imo. (edited)

    What is your budget?
Probably look at RTX 40 series
Gaming laptop usually with upgradable RAM? (edited)

Thanks - budget wise the Legion is £1300 so up to that max

Dell XPS seem very expensive but not sure if the Inspirons are that good, also looked at G15 and HP Victus or Omen range

Dunno about graphics etc. as never had the need, but in terms of best manufacturer it has to be Dell.

My 64Gb/2Tb works laptop must be 4 years old, (ab)used daily, still going strong. I'm gonna ask if I can have it when they replace it.

i used to think that there were good brands and not so good brands, but i think it is more the spec of the laptop as to whether it will be good or not, rather than the brand itself as all the brands will make better quality devices and cheaper ones.

I agree, but then there’s dell, which only sell garbage 😁

It's disappointing that nearly all laptops now have keyboards with half sized arrow keys. Even laptops from about 20 years ago had full sized arrow keys so it's like the design has gone backwards. And the other design aspects such as on Vivobooks where they use things such as grey text on grey keys are bad.

I just want to see a laptop that's designed in Black, has a good visible keyboard with white text on black keys and has full sized arrow keys with a backlit keyboard and OLED screen, etc... (edited)
