Just spoke to CS, they said to cancel & re order because they don’t price match (even themselves 🤦‍♂️)
    ahenners's avatar
Amazon CS is a joke these days

Does this need a external vent?
    ThermalRider's avatar
Yes, it has vent outside to expel the heat from the room you want to cool. (edited)

Had this 12,000 BTU model for two years and zero issues. It's mildly noisy, but keeps a massive room cool so it's worth it.

Ordered another one when I saw this deal posted yesterday for around £230 or so.

Noticed it had fallen further this morning so spoke to Amazon and basically said either do something or I'll refuse the delivery. The agent added a £25 Amazon credit to my account, taking the cost to under £210.

Now THAT is a bargain 🏻 (edited)
    thorpe's avatar
Should now go and cancel and apply that credit to the £210 lol.

Think amazon are hit and miss with refunding stuff in transit - I gave the same ultimatum and literally was told to refuse delivery. So I did!

Received mine this morning and have trialled it. Firstly, with numerous attempts to get the difference I paid yesterday is zero - they use the phrase we do not offer POST-ORDER PRICE ADJUSTMENT. So maybe if your order is not delivered yet u may get the difference.
Got to say this is a little powerful AC (first time buying a portable ac). It is loud like any ac unit its the compressor I would say its like the industry fan . So if u don’t like the noise dont buy. It blows good amount of air. Buttons are easy to use. It has window kit 400cm so returned window kit I bought. The pipe is good thick plastic 1.5m i think but I purchased an extra 3m pipe.
The Machine is quite big and yes its heavy. For the price now its excellent original £499. I got the meaco fans that was on offer on here , i would certainly pay the extra for the AC if u can cope with the industry fan noise. Thumbs up for me hope it helps anyone want to buy

what about sound level with the dehumidifier on only?
  5. mrjonathanknight's avatar
£1.05p a' hour to run it seems, and apparently top overpowered for most rooms that aren't huge
    gary333's avatar
Wrong! I don't know why people who don't understand how air conditioners work always quote incorrectly things like this.

The maximum power draw from this aircon unit is 1.35kw. If it was to run at full pelt for 1 hour it would use 1.35kwh or 36.9p per hour. Obviously as the room cools down it will then go off and on as needed so power consumption reduces once you hit the desired temp.

Anyone have experience using this as a dehumidifier? Got mine a few days ago and wasn’t expecting it to blow out cold air from the front and warm air from rear exhaust. Thought dehumidifiers only blow out warm air.
    gary333's avatar
Aircon units are not really suitable for winter dehumidification, and yes the air out will be cool (just not quite as much as with the AC in cooling mode). Much better off with a proper dehumidifier
  7. TheFireGuy's avatar
LMAO! So glad I didn't buy this yesterday.
    deleted2961197's avatar
Yeah, would be handy if you could cancel/return orders
  8. obms1234's avatar
    Cancelled yesterdays and reordered…thanks!
    bikeydz's avatar
    me too
  9. Spectre786's avatar
Excellent price for 12000 BTU aircon. The unit is 3.4 kW so with current average cost of .29p per KW, it'll cost £1 per hour. Not cheap at all.
    tachyon's avatar
That's the cooling output, it only consumes 1.3kw. Pretty much any air con is always greater than 100% efficient.
  10. SpeedbirdB777's avatar
Cancelled and ordered thanks. Someone tag me if it’s £190 in a couple of days would they?
  11. x_piperuk3's avatar
Am I missing something, link shows £499 for 12,000 btu 7000 version is showing as £162? Is black and decker any good is I never buy there tools as they are crap, Milwaukee/ Makita is the way to go
    Luke_Cashmore's avatar
I got 1, just brought another…paid £550 for my other one
  12. Hippos's avatar
hmm, a mixed bag of reviews, but tired of moving warm air around in the room with my Meaco fan!
Was given the option of payment over five months, so took the plunge.
    Many thanks OP.

Looking for one of these with dehumidifier function. Emptying the tank on this would appear to be a pain with the cap right at the bottom and on the back of the unit which needs to be emptied with a drip tray. Do any units just have a bucket or similar you slide out and empty?
  14. mughalprince's avatar
Was about to buy this as do need one for next year but lot of similar negative reviews. Parts missing, not made by B&D but 3rd party, noisy and so on. Not worth the headache
    Fishyfishy's avatar
That was my take on it too. Especially given how difficult Amazon custome service can be nowadays it didn't seem worth the risk of ending up with a poor/faulty unit.
  15. fossit's avatar
46p per hour will add up!
    ramil1980's avatar
Cheap, for the price of comfort.
  16. gonzaloangelog's avatar
God. I feel sad. We bought ours last year for 390.
    Kuzuri's avatar
Yes mate I know that feeling
  17. AmitC's avatar
Looks like this one the exact same one but different ‘brand’ amazon.co.uk/dp/…aWw
    mrjonathanknight's avatar
Good business model, spray paint it, whack a new badge on and sell it for double the price
  18. bpanther's avatar
Still waiting for further reduction come December/January.
    Timmy_the_Tank's avatar
I've never seen 12k BTU for 200 quid in my life
  19. SupeR130's avatar
I just cancelled and will reorder. Has anyone added the 2 or 3 year insurance / protection?
    Kewss's avatar
I did yesterday and just reordered and didn't bother

This seems really poorly rated, compared to other cheaper models on there.
Is it just the brand that hikes up the initial price tag, or is there a genuine reason for it? (genuinely wondering, as an AC non-expert)
    ASbardella's avatar
Looks like this was previously sold at £500, expectations are going to be way higher than one that's £200
  21. greg666's avatar
Wondering how much energy this machine uses in the dehumidifier mode? I purchased a Meaco air conditioner in summer and now a 20l dehumidifier so would have been great to have everything in one device.
    Kiririn's avatar
They run at full tilt in dehumidification mode. A dedicated dehumidifier is still worth having
  22. Idntkno's avatar
Thanks op, cancelled my other order
  23. SaymynameSaymyname's avatar
Instead of returning the unit i got this morning and buying the new price £210. Is there away to get the difference?
    999's avatar
Just buy it again and when the new one arrives send it back on the old receipt
  24. Shock's avatar
    Bought
  25. Jessi_Smith's avatar
Does it also function as a heater on the higher temps?.
    SpeedbirdB777's avatar
    No
  26. trustus's avatar
Has anyone vented an ac through an external wall? I’m looking to do so but wondering if any of you have done so and if you used a reducer for the hose?
    hitz's avatar
I've vented mine through a hole. I reduced to 125mm - only as that's the size core drill the builder working on a neighbours house had to hand. It doesn't appear to effect negatively but I don't really have a frame of reference.
  27. arb_uk's avatar
    Ordered, thanks OP

    This or Meaco 20L dehumidifier?
    Tarlok_Kharpal's avatar
Can't comment on this specific product, but I have a meaco arete one 25l dehumidifier and its great. Never had any issues and would recommend any meaco dehumidifier. (edited)
  29. rosydozy's avatar
Thanks for the deal seems like a good bargain for 12000 BTU

I nearly bought this when it was £550 but managed to get a Delonghi one from Costco for £200 but I prefer the look of the black & decker.
    mrjonathanknight's avatar
I agree, one of nicest looking aircons I have seen
  39. hifihero's avatar
