Car AC Leaks

Any reputable places to get AC leaks checked & fixed at a reasonable cost?
Manchester is my local area.

Thanks.

I HAD a similar issue, mine used to last about 2/3 months at most until I used this.

Normally I would just top us yearly using the Groupon ATS promo but this year I decided to try this stop leak stuff and to my surprise my AC still working! I'm not sure it will work for big leaks but if yours lasts a few months then its worth try.

Edit, its worth mentioning that this stuff requires a fully charged system to work, so you will need to re gas first. (edited)

Are you sure it is a major leak or did the effectiveness just dwindle over time? There is no such thing as a leak proof system. Some might take years, some days, but effectively there is no way of fully sealing a system. If the cooling disappeared overnight then likely component failure and yeah, you would need a repair.

If it just stopped being as effective over a long time then you might want to chance refilling and seeing what happens. If you get a deal then very often this can be had for £40. If you stick to a major you should have no problem getting your money back if there is a quick leak (< 1 week) and any leaking refrigerant should have dispersed UV dye around the leak area, which you can then repair. You could try going to a specialist for a diagnosis but I don't think your £40 would go very far. A specialist will probably just run the same tests that the major garages are supposed to do (automatically, by the recharge machine) when filling up (holding a vacuum etc).

It was over a period of about 6 months after I had it refilled by authorized Audi dealership. So I assumed it was a leak somewhere in my system. I left it as it was for over 12 months now, and now I'm looking to get it fixed. I just need some place where I could get this leak finding done relatively cheaper than my authorized Audi dealership.

Yeah, you've definitely got a small to medium sized leak - 6 months ain't normal.

Have you tried looking to see if there is UV dye around your HVAC components? Condenser is the usual suspect but at a 6 month leak rate it would seem that the leak size is minimal, condensers from my very limited experience don't typically get pinhole leaks like that.

Short of that, contact a local specialist:

Had the same problem with my focus. Explained I got it topped up last summer and lasted a week or so, asked Kwikfit to leak test it - they said it’s all good and topped up, lasted 3 days.

Took it to local garage and it was the condenser. They changed, topped it up and left it 2 days took the gas out and it was the same amount taken out as they put in so they knew it was the issue - it had about 4 holes it’s it somehow.

Try also posting what you want on mycarneedsa. Com and companies should contact you with quotes, you can then check reviews and gauge prices
