sorted byIt’s extremely basic. It came out originally in 2021 so is already over 2 years old and was the budget iPad then. It has a chipset from the iPhone 11 which came out in 2019! So really it’s 4 years old. On top of that it took away 1gb of ram over the iPhone 11. This only has 3gb compared to the iPhone 11s 4gb. It is in every way worse than the base model iPhone from 2019. Some games already do not run well on this let alone in another year or 2.
It’s now the only iPad with a lightning port. All others come with USB C. The lightning port will cease to exist on Apple products soon.
It has a non laminated screen and even the amount of colours the screen can show is lower than any other new device sold by Apple today.
Just seems a waste of money this iPad.
If you can stretch a bit more money I would purchase a better iPad.
Make sure it’s got at least 4gb of ram and a USB C port.
Personally I would aim for a discounted pro model. Always supported longer for updates than budget iPads. Always a laminated display, always 120hz smooth motion screen, always at least 4gb ram and always a more powerful chipset not found in smaller iPhones.
As a starting point I would get no less than this from eBay. iPad Pro 11 inch £429 basically a new device with 100% battery health without a box. Item number 266464206718
It even has a SIM card tray for 4G which normally costs extra.
But you can find great used device with little use for even less. Picked up a 256gb version of this hardly used and mint condition for £300 a few months ago.
andriod tablets aren’t as optimised for apps
EBay it’s around this price for used 9th gen not new
if want to use this instead of cellular you can just hotspot from your phone if out and about
this is a good tablet that will be supported for the next 4 years with updates, if just want to browse the web, YouTube and abit of gaming it’s perfectly fine for its price point (edited)
I'm on the look out for an iPad to replace the 8th gen iPad (2020) I bought my dad in Dec 2020. Think I paid around this price then. He has very basic usage, Fbook, YT, basic games. I'm not sure whether I'm best holding out for a reduced price on the 10th gen (2022) or this? Prices for the 10th gen seem high considering what I paid for the 8th gen. Time is of the essence too as I need to backup and reset his 8th gen in time to give my nephew for Xmas
A12 chip in 8th and A13 chip in 9th.
Storage in 8th is 32gb or 128gb
Storage in 9th 64gb or 256gb.
99% of tasks will perform exactly the same in real world use on either ipad.
The iPad 10 has has the A14, more ram, stereo speakers, Face ID, USB C port so price reflects this unfortunately.
Apple still offers inferior LCD screens on all iPads, even the M2 Pros costing north of £1200; next to a cheaper S8 Ultra and its Super AMOLED screen, it really does seem inferior in contrast and overall 'pop'. Essentially the difference between an OLED and LCD TV, but inexplicably in this case, the LCD TV costs a lot more.
Therefore, I won't necessarily say Apple does tablets better than anyone. There's a lot of competition in this space right now with superior hardware at lower price points. (edited)
On the payment screen is says they will charge the full order total to my card, but then refund the discount.
I got charged the full amount, but no sign of the £50 back to the card.
Does anyone know how long that takes?
admins have adjusted the listing but it’s still the same deal as it has been all day (edited)
any advice will be appreciated
My kids have had the Ipad 6th generation for years and only now is one of them playing up. I have them both linked to my Apple account, so Apple acarde and I cloud storage is shared between both of them, as well as App purchases.

Any experience of the 3rd party keyboards for this device or should I stick to the apple one?
