Last weekend we went to a retail outlet and my niece wanted to ride in one of these cars. They take a £15 deposit then charge you per hour, so I assumed they would refund my deposit minus the hourly charge (which was £4). So I expected to receive my £11 refund within a reasonable timeframe.
What actually happened - was they first took (or ¿held?) the £15 deposit which appeared in my account as a pending transaction, then the £4 charge appeared in my account and the £15 changed to £11 but was still pending? Which I thought was strange. And what's ended up happening is they've takes the £4 and just left the £11 still pending in apparent 'limbo'
How the hell is that a refund ??!
Their website clearly states:
\"How it works
Please note
A £15 deposit will be held on your card and refunded, less the hire charge, when the car is returned.\"
I sent them a message and they replied with \"If it’s pending it’s your bank that needs to remove - can take up to 10 days we can’t affect that you see\"
Absolutely useless. AVOID

It is a pending transaction. The money is ring fenced for them to take, but they haven't as yet. If they do, the transaction will debit, if they dont, the authorisation will drop off. Usually that happens within a couple of day, but it can take longer. They only have the £4. A pain, but unfortunately that's the way it works."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/51354141","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"TristanDeCoonha"},"datePublished":"2023-11-04T17:53:04.000Z","text":"Not necessarily their fault.
Try it with a normal shop. Buy and return within the same minute, and you will not get an instant refund.
The banks hold on to the money for around 5 working days. Neither shop not yourself has the funds. Only the banking system, which rakes in the interest on every transaction"}],"commentCount":18,"interactionStatistic":4,"articleSection":"Retailer Offers and Issues"}
