Mine arrived today so started my build. Is it normal for cards to not sit square? Seems to be sagging slightly due to the weight. 52203588-rYEy0.jpg
It's going to play havoc with my OCD.
    Vector35's avatar
There are GPU brackets for that. Anti sag bracket or something like that.

I think it’s the 4070 super that competes with this but it’s a lot more.
    amazing1234232323's avatar
Just had a look, £100 more but uses a fsir bit more power.

Seems the card is back in stock and the code is still working. (edited)

Would this card be good for adapting PC games into VR games to play on my Quest 3??
    boomish's avatar
Rubbish my quest 3 works absolutely fine with my new AMD card where’s I was always having driver problems with my old Nvidia, so glad I jumped ship ..

This worth going to from my 5700XT ?
Had many probs with Alan Wake 2 and having to lower the settings to get it to run?
    Alex_H's avatar
Yep this is a massive upgrade
  6. Vector35's avatar
Is this a good upgrade from a 3070fe?
To pair with ryzen 5800x cpu, for gaming on ultrawide at 1440p.
See like a no brainer with the 20% credit offer.
I should be able to get almost £300 for the 3070fe
    Adamsk1's avatar
I went from a 3060ti which is about 15-20% slower than the 3070 and I have seen maybe a 50% performance gain. For the 3070 to this is would be worth it for the extra VRAM even if you only see 20-30% gain. Don’t forget though you do lose DLSS and it does consume more power

Going off the Youtube video that was posted in earlier comment, would these components give me a decent gaming rig with the video card, hopefully to stream games to my Quest 3 as well.
I am going to use my current ATX Case and 750W Plus Bronze Power Supply.

    Craig_Goddard's avatar
Powercolor recommend a minimum of 750W for this card. So, your PSU is at the lower end of what they're suggesting you use (especially as bronze rated). Probably fine (manufacturer suggestions are often a bit higher than what you'd usually run at), but given the streaming you might want to consider upgrading to 850/1000W gold rated, just to be on the safe side?

Depends how power hungry your CPU and other components are. I don't do any streaming, so haven't every accounted for that.

Go to pcpartpicker and put all these components in and see what it says.

    OK...novice question:

Is this the card in an external housing? To connect to a laptop or something?

Sapphire 7800 xt £479 AT Scan, Ebuyer & OC'ers, so similar price- if you don't want to mess around with Very.
Holding out a for sub £450. deal

New to PC builds but I wanted an Intel Build.

This is what I have put together.

Cost £1600 sourcing the parts from Scan, Very and Amazon?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Don’t listen to them comments check hardware unboxed , the 7800 XT is great card , had far less driver issues than I had with Nvidia!
  14. amazing1234232323's avatar
Yeah in my experience, as unlikable as Nvidia can be, their cards just work with minimal fuss. AMD not so much.
    boomish's avatar
Totally disagree… my AMD has been far more reliable than my Nvidia & all the bloody workarounds to get games working. Every game I’ve run has been flawless
  15. Adamsk1's avatar
I have the Sapphire 7800XT and other than drawing a bit more power I am very pleased. At 1440p it runs most games 90+ FPS and at 4K I can get over 50-70 FPS most of the time with some minor settings tweaks.
Running mine with a 5800X3D and 32GB ram
    tenohfive's avatar
I've got the same card and can't fault it. At 1440p I'm getting 136fps for Cyberpunk and 158fps for Insurgency Sandstorm. MSFS I'm getting 60fps, but that's at 7680x1440p (3 x 27" setup) - and that may be down to the limit of my two secondary monitors which are cheap and old.) It's a cracking card. Paid £517 for it in October; it may have been cheaper since, but at that point not many suppliers had the Sapphire. So I was happy to risk paying a few quid more to ditch my RX580 a little sooner. Cheers OP ordered used the 20% discount but paid in full

Upgrading from a 3060ti hopefully should sort out the 'slight' issues I was having with wayland on plasma kde
  17. Vector35's avatar
Got mine today, best GPU I've ever had probably, mostly due to cooling, that thing is cool and silent.
I usually don't be by cards that have to above 200w but this one is fine.

Can be overclocked to match a 6950XT with less power draw. Heat

do you have a link for that to do please

Mine was dispatched this morning through Yodel (I paid for next day delivery) but they say they're "expecting your parcel from your sender" (time/date of that is today @ 00:00). I've not had a Yodel delivery in ages and perhaps of concern is the banner they have on their web page mentioning "recent, speculative media coverage about Yodel". I had a google and they may be in trouble
    Barney210's avatar
Same here although I did not pay for next day delivery. When did you orders yours? Ordered mine Friday 2.30pm and says scheduled to be delivered this Thursday

Shouldn't really be a problem even if yodel are in difficulties? unless they suddenly stop all deliveries i suppose!

Got this card last week, great card, but does pull a lot more power than I advertised, (Hit the peak of 330w) though still plenty of headroom for overclocking and underclocking, just don't do what I did, and make sure there is plenty of ventilation for heat to escape the case, I just wasted 3 days trying to figure out what was causing games to crash, turned out the heat was not escaping the case, time for a better case or fans.

Undervolting is the name of the game with the RDNA3 parts. There's usually decent room to push clocks and/or save power, but you'll really need to undervolt in most cases.

There should be no reason that a part with only 350mm² of total silicon needs to use anywhere near 300w of power. I know RDNA3 isn't all that efficient an architecture, but that's still totally needless.

got this for 520 just a couple weeks ago from very, anyone know if they’ll refund the difference?

Ask Customer Services, They have for me in the past.

Would this be much of an upgrade from a 2070 Super for 4k and VR? Thanks

4k but not with all the settings at max.

Anyone had their card? Ordered Saturday with next day delivery, got a dispatch email Monday but Yodel tracking still says ‘With sender’. Tried to speak to Very customer service but they were utterly useless. (edited)
    Vector35's avatar
ordered sunday morning, due for delivery today, very says "despatched by our supplier" sinnce yesterday morning, but yodel tracking says "with sender".
So it sounds to me that Very (or third party?) booked the delivery but haven't passed over the package yet.
Can't quite see how it will be delivered today if that's so.
Deal was live again this morning, so unlikely to be cancelled imo.

Do AMD cards hibernate now, or is that not possible?

Need it for my server, can't sustain 160w idle 🤦‍♂️
    MrFlipFlop's avatar
How would you test that? Enable Windows hibernation after a time period, let that time period pass and it goes in to hibernation then see what the power draw is at the mains plug?
