do you reckon i could run autocad on this ?

AutoCAD prefers Intel mate. Any i5 really and as much RAM as you can afford for it.. We do CAD machines all the time and would never use Ryzens in them, unless you are specifically going to be using 3d modelling. For 99% of CAD users rendering 2D layers, Intels are best, with faster single cores. Although they'll recommend 16GB and above, it goes better on 32GB, so maybe if you can only afford 16gb to start, get a single stick and add more later. So a 12400 based Intel PC (or more) is most likely the best bet for you, or 13400, but little between them to justify the jump to 13th Gen from 12th gen. If you can pick up a Intel 12700, which are decent value these days, then this is a great CAD CPU. Or go 12400 and drop in a 12700 or 12900 in the future for a solid upgrade, when they are two-a-penny, if you get into heavier workloads. Most workstation users are quite happy with 12400 performance though. hope this helps?

Need a PC for an old creaking one. Mainly browsing and storing photos. Would this be suitable? Would I need to add Windows? Sorry, I'm clueless.
    Jaime_VanHunskerken's avatar
    Way fast enough for that.
It doesn't include Windows however. If you scroll down you'll find the option to add Windows for £90, but that's poor value and you're better off installing it yourself if you know how.

@FairPriceSystems, I've been following your posts for a while looking for the right setup for me. Looking for a new desktop for basic video editing and also some Roblox and OBS for my daughter.

Would this fit the bill, with the option to add a GPU down the line?
I assume Windows is also required here. Plus another basic question, would this connect to existing usb c docking station that I already have?
    Jaime_VanHunskerken's avatar
It's enough for that, but you should consider the upgrade to a 8600G for +£60. 8600G has much better graphics performance and a couple other advantages.
You can add a GPU down the line, but the CPU and PSU will limit you to something low-end.
This motherboard doesn't have any USB-C ports but support for USB-C displays is rare on desktops anyway.

    Hi folks.

As stated on the post; if u intend to add a graphic card to this cpu or alt cpu within this link.

    # !CHANGE PSU!. - they are on site.

The PSU is more then enough for stock cpu only, it is extremely low tier.

    The 8500G has 740M Graphics.
    The 8600G has 760M Graphics
    The 8700G has 780m Graphics

The u have main stream CPUs such as 7600 / 7600X n co, unlike AM4s main steam AM5 do have onboard Radeon Graphics graphics, which are extreme low level.

    PS: WINDOWS.

Do not order direct, install self:

If you dont wish to install your self and considering of buying it, dont. do order without, wait for their management package offer, refuse at £88, they offer it at £68 with extra carefree, windows, qjump n other bits, when u get an offer at £68.... pitch back the stuff u dont require and ask for something within the original post of around £25 ish, as in the management package ull be offers a keyboard/mouse/headset/ carefree/qjump/windows n co, so whatever doesnt appeal, ask for something else.

I.E ^ that could also be a perfect pitch on a better psu. (edited)

and/or anyone else who could advise:

Sorry to post this question here - I just thought it might be the quickest way for you to see it!

In January I bought the following PC from Costco after seeing a deal here (I can't find that thread now, I don't know if it has been deleted?):

Acer Predator Orion 3000, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Gaming Desktop, DG.BK4EK.008

It was £900 after being reduced from £1390 (discount of £490)

For various reasons, it's still sitting unopened in the box and I have a few days left to return it. My question is, as I've waited this long before trying the PC, could I do better for a similar price - or even a couple of hundred pounds higher or lower? I know that technology changes fast, so could I get an even better CPU and/or GPU for similar money? If there's something new and exciting coming out soon, say within a month or so, I'm prepared to wait.

Thanks so much to you and anyone else who is kind enough to reply

For £100 more we can move into main stream R5s / 4070,

    what i7 is it?

Add 6700xt and you've got a solid gaming machine.
    mr_Dealz's avatar
Yes, you would need a graphics card for good performance
  7. darren_hooker's avatar
Could you use this as a steam gaming PC straight off the bat or if not how much more would it cost to make it a gaming PC? An extra 200 to this PC is my limit.. Thanks in advance techno guys..

You can certainly Game on this, it be lower detail then a GPU with that spend, same token as a 5600G version but this being the 8500G what has higher onboard, so a nice increase in that area then into DDR5 (new platform AM5).. 8600G takes the onboard even more.

so this will cover light steam gamers, who want the new platform.

with ur budget of 200 More, which would push u to £600.. near enough.

take a step back on the platform to allow a little more cash in the gpu area spec over the £200

    -> hotukdeals.com/dea…213 + 1TB nvme.

    Bargain, cheaper than parts!
But 8600G (+£60) is the sweet spot for gaming

Don't get this, integrated graphics is never worth it

I suggest you look at AMD Ryzen Value, do psu changes, add a card or add ur own, then compare that to 5500/A520 deals on the web, ull soon see why integrated graphics systems are worth it.

as for the 8500g, its an inc in performance and moves over to ddr5, still has half l3 like 5600G, but seeing as its less then pcpp, and then reduced cost on a higher psu it can compete with with the likes of a 5600X as that might have more l3, this has core boost and ddr5

and on top of that, not everyone also desire a high gpu system to, lets not forget them.

do some research on "prebuilt packages" on the web, and it will soon change ur thought of mind then just looking at one single item aspect.

and as pointed out, it also has very good 7600/7600x options for main stream too (edited)

I’m trying to get a happy medium and future proof at the same time:

If I take the stock offer of £370 PC Budget Buy and:

    Add a promo upgrade to Ryzen 5 8600g = £60
Add Promo PSU to Be Quiet 850w 80+ Gold = £80
    Add AMD board A620m + WiFi = £74.40

Total Cost £584.40 I’m thinking that gives me a good base to add a GPU a little further down the line as I’d be light to mid gaming at the most

Or am I best to go for the PC of the week @ £560? PC of the week

Or the PC RYzen Value @ £300 and:

    Add Promo PSU Corsair 550w 80+ Gold = £40
    Add GeForce RTX 3060 12gb = £260
    PC Ryzen Value
    Total Cost £600

So many options and I’m easily confused (edited)
