Sage Coffee making tips

Hi All,

Recently bought my first coffee machine went for the Sage Bambino Plus with the Sage Smart Grinder Pro, watched a few videos slowly getting the hang of perfecting the timing of the pour, loving the experience and quality is top notch. However maybe it’s because I’m new, would love some advice or tips to make the coffee making process easier.

Firstly the grinder is great but how do you know what grind time to pick I just guessed 16 as the default 17.8 was way too much kept falling out wasting coffee.

Secondly the tamping process can get a bit messy anything easier I’ve seen some where it’s push button type tamper are they any good?

Thirdly when you have finished making your cuppa the cleaning process I’ve bought the sage knock box but my god does it splash droplets of coffee all over my kitchen which is a pain, am I being a total novice any tips on this?

Lastly any other tips, bean recommendations greatly appreciated really enjoying the experience and so glad I made the plunge.

I’m no expert, but had a look at some short YouTube videos when I got my sage machine.

With grind time and setting, you suppose to weigh the grind and time the dripping time.
As different beans would need different grind settings. Think it’s like 14ounce and around 24sec.
So for every new bean, you supposed to test it.

But I just change the settings a little if the drip isn’t right, every time I get new beans.

With tampering, I brought a dosing funnel so the beans doesn’t go everywhere, but might be better solutions.

It shouldn’t splash that much, as the coffee puck shouldn’t be that wet, and quite hard.

Use fresh beans, maybe buy from online coffee roasters, personally get mine from coffee-direct.

Don’t buy too much, as stale bean ain’t good

If you haven't seen them, coffee blog kev is pretty Sage focused - I think he has a lot of sage bambino tailored videos.
