Seems like everyone is grumbling with the rise in ring doorbells subscription, this device will roughly pay for itself in under a year in comparison to ring and all your data is at home and not in the cloud.

  • No monthly fees: Eufy doorbells do not require a monthly subscription to access basic features like live view and motion detection. Ring, on the other hand, requires a subscription for cloud storage and other features.
  • Wider field of view: Some Eufy doorbells have a wider field of view than Ring doorbells, which can help you see more of what is happening outside your door.
  • Better video quality: Some Eufy doorbells have better video quality than Ring doorbells, with resolutions up to 2K.
  • Local storage: Eufy doorbells can store video locally on the device or on a microSD card, which can be helpful if you do not want to pay for a cloud storage subscription.

Slightly off topic but am I the only person that hates these things? I really can't understand the normalisation of these, everyone seems to have one and they just strike me as pointless, the police can't use them to prosecute anyone and in the best case scenario you can watch someone rob your house? Really don't see the point as they are hardly a deterrent?
    Spaced_Out's avatar
I've got a Blink and caught some people doing dodgy things on it and the police were able to prosecute the scumbags because of my footage.

Buy now instead of paying exorbitant Ring fees with Amazon!

As a postie I HATE the way these items are sold, people think they have such entitlement when they speak on them.

Their requests are usually far from reasonable or grounded in any sort of reality of a posties time constraints... "yeah my sister stays in flat 1/b across the road, if you can just leave it there"

"Just leave it on the doorstep, I can't it needs a signature, I need this TODAY"
Yet you've chosen to go out :/

Unfortunately people don't understand certain items like Special Delivery can't be left in a safe place or go to a neighbour.

It is also giving a superior service to someone who doesn't have a video doorbell.

I'll do the courtesy of press them, it is their doorbell after all, but I'll decide where to leave it, and what's allowed within the realms of the spec of the product. (edited)

I've got a traditional doorbell so not taking sides here, but to address your point about the homeowner choosing to be out -- quite often I'll get an email an hour before the delivery window (one time I got an email at 10:53 telling me the delivery window was 9-12!). I can't plan around that so not really fair to blame the homeowner I think.

Does this model send a notification to your phone with doorbell chime noise, when doorbell is rung? Thanks...
    ohreally's avatar
By the time you get the alert and respond the visitor will be 5 minutes away. Its very, very slow.

Paid £69 for this kit from Costco few months ago...Works perfectly

    what a steal that was

We have had one of these for 3 years, once we sorted out the capture placement the battery lasted much longer, still you are lucky to get 3 months out of it. It does charge back up in around 4 hours so no big deal. Our only issue is the mic on recordings isn't great, I think some water got into it. Picture quality is amazing though and I would say the latency between a ring and a notification on your phone is only 1-2 seconds. We don't have ours well within reach of a strong WiFi signal though

My Ring renewed in December, can I cancel and get a partial refund?

    Yes

How weatherproof is this anyone? My front door can get battered with rain in the wind.
    pateo's avatar
Mine is relatively protected from worst if weather as it's between front porch and next door side wall, but still gets a good soaking every now and then, had about 3 years, still going strong!
  9. aviva's avatar
Wouldn't touch Eufy with a bargepole. Full of flaws, hacks and security loopholes.
    Walgeon's avatar
Very true. They also leaked information.
  10. B1T's avatar
Can this send pictures to cloud eg onedrive?
    .MUFC.'s avatar
They have their own cloud subscription service.

You can share your own videos from within the app easily enough.
  11. EMBASSY's avatar
Have the RING. very happy with it. but i think its time. to drop the subscription due next month. £49.99 while this eufy may be up to the job. some of the feedback is not so good. think i need to read more.
    redromski's avatar

Waiting for the double cam version with chime to be on offer.
    Saro's avatar
Do you have a link for that please so I can just familiarise myself and keep a look out for it when it drops. I'm sick of the ring doorbell

Same price on Amazon if you aren't a member or can't face Costco's car park madness...
    Hasn1244's avatar
Costco has descended into absolute chaos these days. It's about as busy as any supermarket weekends on weekdays now it's that bad. There is no longer quite times either. Gone are the days of exclusivity and less members. I remmebrr I used to go back in the day and weekday were dead quite with only weekends busy. The other day I went like 1pm on a workday thinking it would maybe quite and there wasn't even parking in the basement car park!

Great video doorbell. Had mine for a couple of years and have had absolutely no issues and it is used in a high footfall household. Battery lasts around 6 months before charging and get no lag etc (VM 500Mb). Would definitely recommend
  15. disfordrum's avatar
I've had mine for a couple of years and don't recognize the issues in some of those comments. Maybe 3 second leg between ring and notification on my phone, lasts a good 2 or 3 months per charge, no condensation under the lens, ring works, app works. Very happy with it! Used to show Evri, scamazon and UPS that they'd not left the package as claimed without issue.

I have the wired eufy video doorbell and its really good. Dont pay subscription for your doorbell!

Is it wired with a plug ?

I couldn't find a recent update on this:

Can this model be linked to a NVR?
  19. Gorskar's avatar
Did EUFY ever fix the issue where the encryption key for the stored footage on the homebase is only stored on the camera/doorbell itself? (meaning if a thief rips your doorbell off the wall then your stored footage is useless)?
    turbocat's avatar
Yes would like to know this too.
  20. secretmsg's avatar
Won’t last more than 3 weeks with the battery. Plus whenever someone rings . Connecting connecting .
    crabby09's avatar
The connecting issue is likely poor wifi signal.
  21. lacres's avatar
A good buy for those with RING. I have one of these and no subscription for great video and recording
  22. Wishmaster4's avatar
Will these be easy to steal off the wall?
    miclin_jobler's avatar
I've always wondered this, I wonder how secure they can really be
  23. Ziggypoptastic's avatar
I've had to send one back due to condensation/water in the lens. Anyone else had the same problem? Had it only for 6 months.
    flyingflea's avatar
Yeah I've sent mine back about a few times. Once with that issue. Another time the mic stopped working. I couldn't recommend this at all. Latency is horrible when speaking to someone. The connection is poor and everytime something's happened in front of it, it hasn't recorded despite being on highest sensitivity
  24. XYZ787's avatar
Bought in a December. Will be on my third replacement doorbell. 1st had motion and mic issues. 2nd is having battery issues. Currently leaving on with minimal settings as in just records on button press and still battery drains in 3 days.
  25. Tianfat's avatar
I have a feeling ring will offer self storage on the next doorbell. The higher the subscription cost the more people will pay for the next doorbell. If it costs £10 yearly i doubt people will pay £100-200 more and if it costs £50 yearly chances are more people will buy.

Ring have no choice to offer self storage unless they are willing to let companies like eufy take over.
    mark_Blackwell's avatar
Doubt it it's owned by amazon they want your data and you to pay them to store it. They don't care about your security.
  26. CtrlWipe's avatar
Real shame that it won't properly display on Echo Shows when someone rings the front doorbell though. If it could do that then I'd leap at it.
  27. Vp85's avatar
Have one but the doorbell rings are not reliable, works once in a while. Have seen the same issue in both Android and iPhone, planning to change to Ring without subscription as at least I can get the ring on time without delay
  28. Milky_Joe's avatar
Ive had mine a few years no issues.

I bought a cover housing for it to keep the lens dry
    elbs's avatar
can you link to the cover please
  29. catchkiran's avatar
Don't buy even if it's for free. I bought one. Worked fine for an year. With in a weeks time left on its one year warranty, it stopped charging! I complained them. They sent me a new replacement kit with a three month warranty, which expired now and again same issue. It doesn't charge now. Stay away from this product and save your money
    pateo's avatar
I've swapped my ring pro for eufy, had no problem for about 3 years now! Sorry just realized my version is wired! (edited)
  30. aaad1's avatar
What is the security of these systems like?
    Walgeon's avatar
Google it. Awful. They leaked info and I read they're easily hacked.
  31. benlad's avatar
Is there a good POE option? I have the Reolink doorbell, but the notifications are so rubbish it may as well not have them.
    L33TL33's avatar
ReoLink do a PoE doorbell too. Not sure if you mean you already have that one though

Annoyingly I was thinking of getting the Reolink one plus cameras
  32. Jedi-Panda's avatar
Is there a wired version with 3 pin plug with a chime/extender bundle going to move away from ring.
  33. jason.x's avatar
    Hi
Can this be hardwired? As my ring doorbell is and I want to get rid of it due to the price increase! TIA
    justin.kellett's avatar
    Yes
  34. lucyferror's avatar
Yyy roughly pay for itself in under a year? 4.99 x 12 for ring is around 60 quid vs 110 quid. Maybe my math is wrong?
    Matthew007.'s avatar
Yeah the difference is you are paying for ring every year for that camera once. Do the math again
  35. releaseyourself's avatar
Can i use this without requiring home broadband? I don’t mind it being a normal doorbell and it recording to storage for security out the front.

Or is there one i can use with a data sim card?
    Walgeon's avatar
    It's local storage so yes
  36. wrongmark's avatar
Tempted to ditch my Ring doorbell and cameras for this. The Ring is very unreliable for me.
  37. holdthedoor's avatar
How easy is it to change the Ring doorbell to this? Any drilling involved?
    noreenakhtar's avatar
    I'd love to know too!
  38. hiimnewhere's avatar
Eufy could be missing a trick here not reducing the cost of their doorbells
  39. sul's avatar
Not great tbh. Homebase 3 is much better if you plan on setting up a full home system
