This isn't for eight cameras. Got stung before on this. They send four cameras. Read the other reviews.

Not voting this cold but I would explore other options before pulling the trigger on something like this. You might be able to get a local company to install something similar for less using commercial kit from the likes of Dahua and Hikvision/Hilook/Hiwatch. Take a look at some of the 4K & 12MP kits and IP cameras from Annke on Amazon, most of their decent stuff is just rebranded Hikvision kit. This NVR is locked to Reolink cameras so you wont have the option of adding cameras from other manufacturers further down the line. Reolink NVR's, especially their POE stuff usually contains a noisy fan running at near full speed that often wears out and gets even more annoying quite early on, not ideal for a home environment (unless in an equipment room/rack etc) so factor in a Noctua upgrade at some point. Also, its not very practical having 8 or even 16 ethernet cables run all over the house to a centralised NVR in your bedroom or lounge - A POE switch in the loft for the camera to connect to and one downstream cable going to your NVR or home network would be far more practical.

How do you do this 8 ethernet cables to POS switch and then run one cable to the NVR please? I'm the 8 cables guy !

How much energy do these NVR Systems use recording 24/7/365?

Rough guess, less than a pound a day if you had all 8 cameras plugged into the NVR.

Doesnt look like we have many choices for wired woth smart features. Swann vs yale vs reolink. What's the best in uk?

I went for just 2 cameras combo on Ebay for £250, and they do the cx410 ( night color) for £70 a piece now. It might be a better combo. (edited)

I need something that can handle more than 16 cameras. Currently have a Hikvision NVR.

Are there any options similar to this?

Or is it Meraki/Unifi next ?

I'll never go with reolink again. I've got the 5mp kit and it records 24/7 although they say tha is smart and it detects peoples /cars/animals... It doesn't have a clue believe me. After a year a hdd failed just outside the warranty. Their customer service weren't helpful at all. I didn't ask for them to send replacement. I just asked for a model number of hdd compatible. It took weeks to reply and then they send me hdd models that you can't buy anywhere in the uk. £1000 for this kit is crazy money. Is crazy money even with the discount applied.

My Reolink PoE doorbell is great, it uses on-camera detection which you can set minimum size and distance etc. e.g. last night the only event was a black cat walking next to my car.
