Cold considering these go on sale for 199 brand new including a 3 month GPU sub worth £39

    Edit
If you want a second hand console these are everywhere on FB marketplace for £100-130 (edited)

Not exactly a fair comparison with FB Marketplace given these are certified refurbished, therefore guaranteed to work and with a decent warranty. I think most people would rather pay the extra £20-£50 to MS and have any issues sorted than save that paying someone on FB Marketplace with no warranty.

As to the £199 new price, Certified refurbished really isn't much of a downside compared to new.

Microsoft should just make these £99.99 with a required years sub to gamepass. and then they’d gain market share back off of Sony.

I don’t think it’s the cost of the console that is losing MS market share. The S has always been half the price of a PS5 so if cost was a big factor it would have played its part already. Yet Sony have just increased their market dominance.

Is it much of an upgrade over the Xbox One? Son plays Fortnite and FC24 mainly.

    Thanks

Good price official MS certified refurbished and come with the MS 12 month warranty. Got one of these refurb units 18 months ago and all was like new including controller. No issues.

This generation (including the PS5) has been a waste of time. So few games are being made.

Is anybody using a serial s with dev mode on? If so how is the Emulation experience?
    Rory_Mullan's avatar
Yes I am an it is fantastic. Dev mode is supported by microsoft and doesn't require any kind of jailbreak. You can't break your console doing it this way as it's allowed. It costs you £20 to activate as a one off cost.

If emulation is your thing it's well worth doing.

I got this deal for Black Friday, just be aware that CD Keys sometimes pull the discount codes when they reach their maximum number of redemptions. Happened to me on the last gift card I tried to buy.

If these had 1tb i would have kept mine, amazing piece of kit given its size and bang for buck.

Really nice offer and a decent console for the money. I'm not really a console gamer, but when I first got mine, I was impressed for the price. I did want the X, but couldn't convince myself

    Nice one
    EN1GMA's avatar
i cant justify getting a X looking at the fact i dont game as much as i'd like to. but the series s, with GPU, and xcloud is just something that works for me. I'D probably play quite abit on my phone and tablet with xcloud as i do on the series s.

I can't believe i have had mine for over 2 years now, and i paid the full £250 and it was worth every penny, cracking little console and very very very cheap to run, and i just put it onto a new 1440p monitor from my old 1080p monitor and saw all the S games gain better clarity and sharpness......so it just got it second wind now.

    Heat.
    EN1GMA's avatar
paired with GPU, its a fantastic combination.

My nephew arrived yday for a catchup. Ate us out of house and home then spent all night in the spare room on the Xbox Series S he’d brought in his backpack.

Said he had a great time !

V good deal btw. Heat added.

I must be delusional then can't see how a machine being used every day for 3 years with a kebab greased controller that was given a wipe down at £150 is a hot deal
These were £180 brand new on BF and you got a 3 month GPU sub (edited)

I'd like to know what they do with the controller as £45 for new is a huge chunk of any savings gone on a second hand unit. I've seen completely smooth left sticks which could be cosmetically fixed and you'd be none the wiser. (edited)

Refurbs from MS directly come with a new controller, it's just the console they refurb and even then the consoles look new and come with 12 month ms warranty.
  23. toptom007's avatar
Just use your MS points for it to be free.

    If someone uses MS rewards
    If they have enough
If they haven’t already spent them

    Lots of ifs involved

I have gamepass ult which I use on PC is it any different using it on the console, does the game need to be downloaded to the console ssd or is it played in cloud ?
    EN1GMA's avatar
most of the games can be streamed. Thats how i use my series s. You can't stream certain games like Fortnite. But im finding all of the recent games released on the services comes with xcloud, so streamable. I hardly have any games downloaded and xcloud streaming has come along a huge way.

Even during peak times, 6pm-10pm, i find it loads up within 30 seconds. at non peak like 7am, im in the game within 10 seconds. so MS must have put some extra resources in their cloud infrastructure.

I probably play GP equally on my phone and tablet and the series s. Games like Brotato, Vampire survivors or even Fifa are great at show plays. My latest craze is powerwash (lol).
For the me, the key aspect is the seamless way progression i saved between my play on the phone/tablet to when i go on the series s.

Mine just arrived. I purchased £50 Xbox Gift Cards for £41.99 each from another reseller and then with this promo code I think it worked out at about £139. Insane.
I also chose the free standard delivery and they still sent it DPD Next Day. (edited)
