I bought this model a few months ago. I'm requested to send my readings to my GP quite regularly (not sure why!) and this model gets a very high rating by Which Magzine as one of the most accurate.

It says upper arm to 32cm... How big is everyone's upper arm? That's huge isn't it?
    Baw_Bag's avatar

Got the omicron ones use it too monitor my blood pressure. Nowadays you go to gp and they tell you to monitor your blood pressure over the next seven days and upload it to the nhs website ....mine is on average 137/64 measured over 7 days , morning and evening , think its ok but I'm fast approaching 60 years in age...great to have at home.

You mean OMRON. Omicron is a COVID type!

This is a great device and price, a rebadged OMRON and I’ve just been using mine this morning. I think the cuff might be a bit tight for those with Brutus size biceps (it’s a Popeye reference kids) but I find it very good and it’s what the local surgery uses too.
    mrew42's avatar
If it is a rebadged Omron and I promise you I haven't got Brutus Biceps, but I needed to get a larger cuff.
    Just saying

These are 100% made by Omron. Great price at £9. Even better at £6.98 with staff discount! Bargain!

If anyone is interested in purchasing this product and wants a bigger cuff size I managed to find a larger size on eBay for a fiver.

    Hope it helps.

If you're using any software, there are many different standards. I was using the top rated one on the Play Store for a few months which said things were fine, only to realise it was for the US and not UK standards. When I changed things to the UK, my numbers were slightly elevated and it gave me reason to keep a closer eye on things.

    Something to consider.

I bought one of these a few years back for £13 and it's really good. Unbelievably, it even comes with a case and batteries.

Mine's an OMRON, but this one looks to have been rebranded by Boots... which is a bizarre waste of time and resources... nobody likes buying 'own brand' goods.

Anyway, no excuse not to buy one at this price if you're like me and need to keep an eye on your BP. (edited)

Companies usually make products under private label arrangements to protect value their own brand, and making profits at the same time.
  10. EndemicAlarm's avatar
If it has different features and looks different, in what sense is it the same model?
  11. Rimi's avatar
Yes it is made by Omron, using it for 3-rd year. What I have found, that systolic readings are always out on first few readings. And most times by 20%. I had replacement and same story. How do I know? I took it to 3 different doctors and tested with their one's readings.

:/ In a letter published May 2, 2023, in JAMA, an international team of researchers reported findings indicating that the vast majority of top-selling blood pressure monitors sold on a popular website are not validated for accuracy. And using a nonvalidated device might threaten your health.1 Sept 2023
    dave7's avatar
.... doesn't apply to this one, the box blurb says it's "clinically validated"

I have this one, which has an easy to read colour scale so you can make easy sense of the readings.
It also detects irregular heartbeat and only £17 delivered.

This one is better a lot in accuracy. Using it right now and always accurate and stable readings.

Thanks OP, managed to get it for £9.00, heat added.
  16. Rose_'s avatar
Thanks, and you are right about 10% discount via advantage card.

    I can’t get the 10%. What am I doing wrong? 🫣
  17. Proveright's avatar
Thanks OP. Everyone should own a blood pressure monitor, as blood pressure is a hidden killer.
This is a good price. But by default they all come with tiny cuff sizes. So always measure your upper arm size. For me you need up to 42cm.
    DrSlinky's avatar
Yes, because it should be tested at home, NOT in the hospital or GP office, they are false readings.
  18. vnd3tta's avatar
Btw you get an additional 10% with the student discount, so it's £8.10 if you have it (edited)

    Thanks

    Thanks OP, bought.

Only an extra £0.50 since there's a 10% discount... but it is profoundly irritating that this thing is in stock at my local, but not only am I not allowed to go and buy it I also have to pay extra and wait two days to collect it.

Great deal, Op! I’ve had one for 2 years, and had no problems with it. I was surprised to see that it is exactly the same as the device my doctor used, when I last visited!!
  30. dreamsofubuntu's avatar
fab little machine I bought one same as Zerobob for £13 and it was money well spent, I did also need to get a larger cuff though as you would have to be quite petite to use it comfortably! I work at a GP practice and we actually now charge patients a £20 refundable deposit to borrow one of ours! although this mainly because they never get returned or about 3yrs later...

Been looking to get a blood pressure monitor but was baffled at the variety available! Ordered this for £8.10 thanks for posting
  34. Bokstas's avatar
I had it and dissapointed with accuracy. My blood pressure is 135/85 most of the times and this one shows 148/97 take or add few. Made me worrying and had consulted with GP and several tests on other devices confirmed normal results.

Just bought this to replace my old Omron one where the readings were all over the place (always took the best one for my records 😸). It's a real bargain at this price.
The readings on this are nice and stable.
I record my readings on an app called "blood pressure, my diary" and export to Dr when visiting surgery
  38. mrTea67's avatar
This looks almost identical to the one i bought last Month from Argos for £17.All they seem to of done is change the colour to their own Blue and white. That one also had a memory of 90 tests.
  39. adamkaty's avatar
If the cuff is too small can you get a larger one and fit it to this? Gym finally been paying off
  40. KingOfCaledonia's avatar
How long do the batteries last on this?
    micronX7's avatar
That would depend on how often you use it, once a week, once a day, three times a day etc. I suppose the question is, how many measurements will one set of batteries offer. All I can say is, I have the Omron version, it's probably done about 40 readings with no sign of a flat battery indication but you would expect that.
