Has Half Life 2 aged well? I mean, will I still be amazed by it?
    Renegade211's avatar
    Honestly yes

If you haven’t played this and are into FPS, must buy!!!

I paid £35 for this on release and then they made it free and gave me a stupid hat.

Wish I’d never bought this! Then I could buy it now for peanuts!

Wish I'd never played this! So I can get to have my mind blown all over again from scratch.

I bought this for about £20 back in the day and it was incredible value then. This is ridiculous

    £10 for ps3, absolutely awesome.

It hurts to think how much money I could have saved by simply waiting 20 years before playing some of these games.

Bought this from HMV's website on PC DVD on 15/10/2007 (five days after release) for £22.49 (£36 today with inflation) and have zero regrets.

I had this years ago on the PS3. An absolutely great game.

Thanks, worth playing again on the Ally at this price
  13. Cremoso99's avatar
This was the best game ever at the time. Scared to play it now as worried it will be dated.

Team Fortress 2 has been free to play for some years now. Still a good deal

Half Life 2 for it’s time was so so good :-)

The complete Valve pack is also great value.
The Orange Box really does open up so many opportunities it’s hard to pass up on it at this price.

Get ready to be disappointed when you realise that Valve couldn't be bothered to finish the story. Still worth playing through as it's a great game. Not sure how well it holds up today.

I would recommend people play Black Mesa first for the story as that is the best way to play HL1 and it goes on sale regularly for peanuts.

I’d love to pick up Half Life Alyx, but I only have a Mac which, last time I looked, doesn’t play well with the usual VR headsets

Insane that Half Life 2 is now 20 years old - in my Master System days, subtracting 20 years from the year invariably took you back to a year where no home video games existed at all. Even in the PS2 days, 20 years earlier was stuff like Pac-Man and Missile Command.

I remember taking the day off work to play HL2 (had to buy a new pc to play it)
  23. Alex5454's avatar
Masterpiece. Surprised they haven't made a TV series for this game yet. (edited)

    They can't even make trilogies

This was the game I was playing when my Xbox got the red rings of death.
    ahh such wonderful memories,

I remember playing HL2 on my Mums old PC on release, it had 512mb of RAM and integrated graphics.
Average about 20fps, everything set to low and physics objects, barrels, boxes etc spawned only when I was 5 feet away.

And I loved every minute. Sure, now I can set everything to ultramax and get 300fps, but I'll always treasure that first playthrough. As a side note, the original Xbox Port was a technical marvel, well worth a try for the curious.

For the three people that don’t own this now, this is an absolute bargain!

Thanks, OP. Have never played the Half-Life games or Portal, so this is great.

I own all the items from Orange Box but they still want £0.83 from me
    Tyrell_'s avatar
They are selling the game for 83p, not asking you to buy it again.

If it's ever been on origin I've got it but can't access orange account so grabbing this cheers

Never played HL2. Has it aged well? Don't care about graphical differences obviously but what about gameplay?
    dc89's avatar
Played it last year on steam deck and it’s still a fantastic game. I’d say it’s essential if you like shooters.
  35. Piranha_Plant's avatar
So cheap on PC, yet outrageously expensive on XBox and PS3
    SecretOfMonkeyIsland's avatar
Because people want to own a physical copy of the game that influenced many titles of its generation. There will always be people that dont understand physical collecting and people that dont understand digital.
  36. rawshark99's avatar
What a game! it sets the bar for all first person shooter games; granted it's a little long in the tooth now but it's got that magic 'playability' factor, some games will live forever.
  37. bermudaviper's avatar
If I didn't already own them from last time they were on sale I'd buy them again.
