Anyone taken the BBQ out of this and replaced with a 57cm Weber?
    Wigady's avatar
Well, the instructions show the bowl being bolted to the frame, so I guess you either need to get the drill out or hope the Weber is a good enough fit

Can you take chopping board off, and assume it's Alluminium underneath?
    Wigady's avatar
Just had a look at the manual online - the chopping board is held on by wing nugs (assuming there’s come bolts bonded into the bottom of it

In terms of the actual BBQ (shape and size), does anyone have any ideas of the pro's / cons' versus the Argos one?

    hotukdeals.com/dea…353

Would love opinions on which would be bigger (and better) for cooking on?

I have always wanted a drum bbq but I actually went with this one. I was on the fence too.

    Pros for this trolley bbq:
    - Temp gauge
    - Hooks for utensils
    - Beer opener
    - Much easier to clean due to the ash catcher thing on tbe bottom (this is a big plus for me)
    - That side area seem to be useful to put stuff on (won't be using for chopping)
    - Bottom shelving

Pros for that argos drum bbq:
    - Comes with rain cover
    - Comes with utensils
    - Slightly larger cooking surface
    - Adjustable grill height (I don't think the Aldi one is adjustable)

If possible return it, get a refund and order this to save £25.

Thanks OP! Ordered along with a portable outdoor patio heater

Not sure if anyone else has had the same problem I had but, even under a cover, that "chopping board" does not fair well at all. I'd say to remove it and keep it somewhere dry whenever you're storing the BBQ.

Same with mine, it was warping last year & is now in three pieces.

I got this a couple of years ago. The only draw back it the grill in the bottom that you put the coal on. The bars are so wide that the coal falls through. I've ended up putting a pizza pan in the bottom.

I recommend getting charcoal baskets (which are also good for creating direct and indirect heat)

Has anyone found a cover that will fit this?

I have one, definetely good for the price.

Would this be big enough to sit and ooni 12 inch pizza oven on top of, somewhere and use as it's base?
    tommocroydon's avatar
ha! that's why I was asking about the board. great minds!

    nathanirwin01's avatar
I echo the clowns part, they still haven't delivered mine, contacted customer support and I use the word support very loosely and they were like "yeah we sent you a text saying we have the bbq but we actually don't have it so go back to Aldi"

Just build mine. Not used yet but looks great. Don’t think it will be a forever bbq but at the price happy to get a few years out of it.
