Let's not forget the pressure treated floor bearers with a 10-year guarantee. Or, the thick 19mm roof and floorboards which are included as standard. Not an optional extra like some competitors. I put one last week. If you think of buying it please do a concrete base. Don't do the one they recommend plastic squares called rapid foundation systems. It is very easy to break them or with bit of stone in it. Also get your own barers stronger one at least 2x2 inch the one they provide are 1x2 very flimsy and not heavy. Otherwise everything else was fine. For the roof use rubber roof don't go with that cheap stuff they come with.

What do you mean easy to break them?

I have a few of these, much better than the quick garden rubbish I bought. Double glazed doors and windows are decent enough for the price. I recently put an epdm roof on but they did supply felt within the price I paid.

This seems a really good buy although I’m not sure about the log thickness as the one I bought had 45mm logs and personally I wouldn’t go any thinner. (edited)

Based on the twist on the thinner logs on another cabin I have, it made installing the cabin way harder and any issues you have lower down when knocking the logs together just gets way worse towards the top. I had to use clamps and ratchet straps to get the thinner logs, to seat correctly due to the twist, no such trouble with the 45mm logs. (edited)

In case anyone was wondering how these are to build, the full pdf guide can be found online: scribd.com/doc…-V1

So most of these cabin/summer houses get ripped to shreds on here but I’m assuming, as the comments are broadly positive, this would be a comparatively good buy? Realistically are you looking at 2500 built and insulated/covered?
    Nib1337's avatar
I think it depends on your budget and usage. For the price this is fantastic, but think of it as a glorified shed/summer house than a 'log cabin'. Those that build their own garden rooms buy the materials separately and spend 3x this amount to gain a similar result, but more reliable.

This is an all-in-one package, so it saves you time searching for materials and building since everything is pre-cut, but you can make a saving if you opt-in for some of the extras yourself (roofing, insulation, paint etc.)

I bought a cabin from Dunster (not this one) last year. I can say it has been brilliant for WFH. However I spec’d it with the thicker wood for the walls, insulation for roof and floor (not walls); and added the roof shingles and guttering. It all adds up.

I got a concrete based done and a guy to come and build this (who used to work for Dunster building them, so put it this way he didn’t need instructions).

I have also fitted an Air Con unit for cool and hot air as and when needed.

Honestly one of the best investments for our house, I don’t hear the kids running around, or constantly being the only one to open the door to deliveries etc. also finally a place to put my snooker table !!

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

If ordering this, assist the delivery drivers, I got the chuckle brothers last time, nothing damaged but they acted like twonks and weren't respectful

Actually disappointed I has to scroll so far to find the first Terminator comment

I've put two of them up, but much bigger (24-foot width), and they are brilliant. You need to have a bit of DIY experience. It will take about 2 days with help to build. Hightly recommend.

Can these be used as a woodworking shed / cabin, or would that be an overkill ?

I've looked at same size 'heavy duty' workshops (clad ex19mm t&G redwood cut to shiplap pattern, floor 12mm exterior WBP plywood etc, doble doors, heavy duty roofing felt, locks etc), which were around £3.5k. makes this one look like a bargain, but not if it can't withstand timber being knocked around and cut inside it.
    Malice19's avatar
I bought mine to use as a workshop, well that was the plan until i started building it and soon realised it was way too nice to used as a workshop so turned it into an office instead 😋

Sure it would be fine as a workshop as solid but remember its soft wood so will dent easily.

Shed marketing out of control - a log cabin without a single log!

It's really a shed made out of thick planks but that doesn't sound as premium

They get very good reviews, and the price was £2384.99 a few weeks back which was already a decent price! Would have jumped at it but annoyingly the wrong size for me, looking a little smaller.

It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity! Or remorse or fear and it absolutely will not stop!... ever... until you build the log cabin.

Great price. Imagine it would be much cheaper to insulate yourself then paying more than double the price that includes insulation
    Nib1337's avatar
Yes, I ordered one similar and I've gone down the route of insulating myself. PIR boards can be found cheaper and you can order thicker floor/roof insulation
  35. Davidp87's avatar
