One generous coat was fine for my fences and it is £4 in WILKOS. If the wood has been previously treated with oil based treatment like creosote this product being water based will bead or run so maybe that’s why. Also shake the container or stir with something large as it’s like gel at the bottom.
One coat it ain't. More like 4 coats.
Good reviews on the ducksback, currently around a tenner for 5l
This is really rubbish! I recommend ducksback. It seems to normally be on offer about a month after this stuff, most years...
Thanks made up my mind :-)
These are £2.99 in HomeBargains - just purchased 15 for some garden work!
Saw a 1.5m version in the entrance to wickes today for £5 Might be worth a look
Not the same Height
I thought they were Billy Bob fangs.
This fencing should keep those pesky garden gnomes out of America.... :D
@Johnnyboy what a great idea :)
Bought 12 rolls (in 3 orders), will lay flat to edge the garden pond. Thanks OP.
Whats living in a council house got to do with having these?
Good price, look great on the council houses I drive past.
Can these be cut at height?
I did a fence panel the other day with mine and took 2 minutes with zero overspray. Brilliant bit of kit if you can handle basic diy tasks
Nice deal Nearest one to me is 225m away ;(
It's all about planning. Common sense prevails, don't spray while light gentle winds even gale force winds. (y)
Its with all of them lol imagine car being sprayed in wind.... :p
got some of this about 2 weeks ago at this price, was so busy that day didnt even think about this website xD
Any sprayers you can recommend? Used a brush last year and took me ages 🙃
When I painted my fence I used ducksback. Watered it down 20%. And used an electric spray gun. Took mo time at all
Oooo, I can treat the wife (lol)
Yeah agree with the comments on this being rubbish, used it last spring seems it washed away with the rain by summer as it looked like the fence had never been painted. Will be trying Cuprinol this year.
I've had mine painted Black for a few years.i love it (y)
Can't see any in stock anywhere near me (West London all the way up to Norfolk) Edit - did a wider search from my normal route and found some in north london. Thanks OP. Great spot, great price.
I'm waiting for the silver to be on a deal, but thanks for letting me know it's good quality!
Good stuff. Better than the Ronseal dishwater.
I am sure this is old stock as they don't sell any of the other colours (apart from silver ) it was the same price when I looked last year - I got the green for £14 for 9l in BQs then (£22 now)- very good paint nice and thick and still looks 1/2 a year latter (ok it's not long but it has not soaked in and looks the same as when I painted it)
that is cheap, mine is £6 per litre at shop only for 5L, but it is £10 for 10L.. lucky you, i think local and not national
Great price to smarten up garden come Easter. It’ll be back full price then
Will get it updated.. thanks 🙏🏻
Now £45 (y)
Depends what colour your using if green no problem?
Bought many over the years - didferent types. All have failed. Either the light or the plastic snaps. Why do we allow such bad quality to be imported?
I'm sure these are often £1-2 each in B&M and Home Bargains stores anyway. They're awful and sadly aren't designed to tolerate any normal weather. The rain destroyed ours pretty quickly. You could go to the effort of sealing them. But they have batteries to change too. Since the light that comes off these is miserable, I don't think its worth it.
Terrible light that comes off them.
I have heard really bad feedback on these lights, they don't keep water out
Reviews not great but ordered anyway! Will see how they cope with British weather. Heat added thanks.
I agree, my neighbour decided to give one of these a try painting their fence and the mess they made below it on their newly built decking was laughable. The patio area and fence still looks a right right mess after they gave up.
Big word of advice. Be prepared to get complaints from neighbours. Using these types of things outside with the slightest of breeze and you’ll cover cars, windows, etc. Make sure you spray on a calm day, whenever that happens.
Someone posted the tool box a few mins before I did: hotukdeals.com/deals/20-stanley-toolbox-instore-at-bm-for-5-3091146
Probably not store specific as it is on their website at £5.
Is the toolbox store specific?
Just for future reference on homebase deals: My store showed 36 in stock when i ordered 10, the website does not subtract those orders until paid so will still show stock when they have none. I got my ten because they did it on a first ordered basis, i recieved my ten despite others being turned away because i ordered sooner than them.
These are now showing at £1.35 with decent stock level in London. I've got these, definitely worth the money. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07B9V9YCZ?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
Not good! I may instead invest in mpow solar lights when I across a deal.
Got a call from Homebase, shawbridge, glasgow and was advised they have none in stock even though i was on way to collect them! Amazing service...not!!
I reserved 28 yesterday for my garden. They called today to say they are out of stock but the person on thephone had already been told by the manager that i can have the round lightware fence lights for the same price (was £3 then £1.50). Maybe it's worth asking for This? These ones https://www.homebase.co.uk/lightware-solar-fence-light_p488882
I've used the Medium Oak on my new fence recently when it was £3.99 @ Poundstretcher. Very good paint looks good and dries quickly. Holding up well to the rain too. Managed to paint both sides of the fence (equivalent to around 3-4 fence panels) including the sides of the doors and a further 4 fences and still had a bit left so definitely lasts long.
I know they are different products that was the point I was making.id rather pay more for a better product.never tried fencelife plus so can't comment on it.ive used ducks back on rough and smooth wood that I've patched a shed with and is fine.never would use a sprayer but my neighbor does.sprays all over my side on Wendy house plants ect.
Pure rubbish it just doesn’t last and that’s the problem You spend so much time putting it on only for it to be washed away in one or two showers I use decking PAINT Looks and lasts for about 3 ye
Coloured water.. get some cuprinol in the 10 l drums from dulux trade centres, yes its lot dearer but watch the water slide off, it actually water beads up.. it will last 4 times this coloured water. Who wants to paint shed fence every year? You will if use the dirt cheap fence paints.
(cheeky) What does it do?
Thanks for this
Agreed - I've used this previously and it's a complete waste of time compared to solvent based treatments unfortunately!
Yeah 1 is 6 quid but 3 is 22. Where did they learn maths
I put 2 coats of this on start of summer and it's fine.Hasnt run off so far.Very good price.
Hmmm im not sure i didnt get any but thinking back it could be
I don’t know anything about this Black & Decker one but I have the ERBAUER ERB561SRG from screwfix and I would never go back to tedious brushing or pump sprayers- heat added.
Are these any good? I bought a pump one but it would chuck so much paint on you still had to go over it with a brush to get rid of the runs, I gave up in the end.
I've just picked on up from the North Shields store. Was still listed on the shelf as £39.99, but scanned at £20. Thanks!
Cracking price, useful tool for a very tedious job.
Loads in Irvine store today
Online too, with topcashback too! Forest oak colour Harvest brown colour
Have a look on facebook, a yard near me was selling 6x6 for £26, , check local builders merchants
@deanos / @Chumba_Wumba would you mind pointing me in the right direction for the featheredge panels, please? I can't seem to find them that cheap. Thanks in advance
go and buy featheredge closeboard panels, theyre about 5 or 6 quid more a panel, if you shop around at your local timber, or trade fencing supplier, but worth the extra money....throw in some one foot gravel boards and some steel reinforced concrete posts, and you've got yourself a fence that should last twice as long, at least.
Is Wickes gonna be around in 10 years
As above I found Ronseal very thin and its not one coat if you want it looking good, much prefer ducksback. Usully but ducksback at £10.
Harvest brown also a tenner and silver copse 8 quid on Amazon, same link
Autumn gold colour is a tenner delivered at amazon if you are a prime member. Gotta be worth a go if you don't happen to live next door to a wilko? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cuprinol-Ducksback-Waterproof-Sheds-Fences/dp/B006LX2XK0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535054670&sr=8-1π=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cuprinol+ducksback+autumn+gold&dpPl=1&dpID=611frsj7sYL&ref=plSrch
We started off with Ronseal but didn't like it at all as the consistency is pretty much like water. It splashed everywhere and needed 3 coats. Then bought Ducksback which is better, though still not great. I'd go with Ducksback.
Is Ronseal one coat any good or this is significantly better? Ronseal is about £5-8 for 9L
