Festool or not, Who uses these rules these days!!! i can't see a use for them when we have great tapes like Fatmax :-)

I use a folding rule to set the height of fence posts. It's easer to keep using a ridged unfolded rule rather than a floppy tape.

Measuring the depth of liquid in a barrel or other container would be another use, but not an everyday thing for most people.

The best folding rule out there

Wiha ones are also nice. They are plastic, so a bit more flexible, and weather resistant.

I picked up a Stabila one few years ago & each time I've attempted to use it has been pretty unsuccessful.

It doesn't lay flat, is a general pain in the backside to open out & close back up, & I've found no situation yet where a tape isn't a better option.

This is probably the only festool tool I can afford!
I have one for years and I use it all the time, probably more often than my tape ruler. (edited)

I have had one for a while as I am a Festool junkie, but the paint will wear off instantly.
