    In my opinion yes.
Bought just before Christmas last year and am constantly amazed at the amount of stuff that this washes out.
Be warned though……use Luke warm water rather than cold!

Are these things really much better than the traditional floss thread and tape?

A lot better as they get to the back teeth easily, I use floss tape first then this and it still blasts more out,

Never used a waterpik before and dentist has recently recommended one.

Is 45 seconds worth of water capacity enough?

I’m used to this one and 45 secs is sufficient for me but if you require longer which sometimes I do, it is easy to refill and go again. Hope this helps

Never been very consistent with my flossing so I invested in one of these. Wish I asked the dentist first. Our dental practice is part of an NHS training hospital and I must have mentioned it to at least 4 different consultant dentists by now - every single one gave it the thumbs down. Floss or interdental brushes, but not a waterpik for flossing. That said, it has been a Godsend for cleaning the gums around my "partially erupted" wisdom teeth. For anyone suffering from their wisdom teeth coming through, a waterpik is the way.

Ok but the full size plug in version is much better

What's makes it better? Trying to decide between the two, thanks!

I do the same, just refill and do the missed bits.
Another one to say that getting around the back teeth with this is much easier than floss

    Gave up using mine.

After 18 months the battery life was abysmal, needed charging after every use otherwise the low battery charge doesn't keep the pressure up for the water jet (which is the point).

Even before then I found it worse than using interdental brushes. It was definitely good at cleaning out any bits of food stuck between my teeth before brushing, but didn't shift the scale. My dentist even asked me had I stopped using interdental brushes and told them yes because I'd been using a waterpik instead.
