sorted byIt is DoA. Controller won't connect to it unless it is in safe mode, even via cable = dead WiFi board.
They don't let you take it back into a shop to swap it. It has to be returned in the mail.
I'm done with Game after the pratting about they've put me through. Avoid like the plague. (edited)

However, it's going back. Controller wouldn't work, gave the 'Too many USB devices' error. Used another I had to get into the menu, had been updated to 11.50 a couple of weeks ago so no jailbreak for me. Since it shipped with a fault I can't trust their refurbishment procedure, won't be buying from them again.
but its out of stock
You'll have to then figure out how to dismantle it yourself for maintenance (fresh CMOS battery, cleaning the heatsink for dust, replacing thermal paste). Not awful as far as consoles are concerned, but also not the simplest either. Some of the internal connectors are a little cheaper and flimsier than I'm usually comfy with. I can see this catching inexperienced people out. Maybe people could ask their trusted local repair shop to handle it.
Scroll to the bottom where you can download the firmware, copy it to a USB stick, put it in your PS4 with the new SSD and follow the instructions.
