Anyone who has a nut allergy be careful with Nivea suncream products as I they have added almond oil in the ingredients (edited)
  3. tapnet's avatar
Lots of nurseries and school have banned this btw
    stuartw's avatar
I love the way you bate us, like a master, without giving any details you tease 🤦🏽‍♀️

So they are banned due to potential for nut allergies.

I thought it was the seed oil mafia

"Nurseries and pre-schools have shared a warning that a range of Nivea's sun creams for 'Kids' now have almond oil in them, advising parents to stop bringing the products into settings, due to some children and staff having nut allergies."

If it's not already, this should be a deal on here. Blows all the 30spf nonsense out of the park.

There's a reason they don't advertise how good their UVA rating is...

Aldi and a lot of other less known brands are all better and cheaper than this stuff.

Hopefully on topic, can anyone advise how I get the max S&S discount? I have x5 ongoing subscriptions already next delivery next month, but when I order this I’m only getting the 5% with no option to add to the next delivery.
    ellie27's avatar
Go into your s&s in your account and see when the next delivery is and how many items are listed there, should be 4 so that when this is added, it ups the discount

    I'm with you there.

I've taken Lacura Factor 30 to Egypt before and didn't burn once.
My go to sun protector from now on.

Great deal, but have you asked yourself the question: Is this even better than the Superstores' own brands like Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, or even Aldi and Lidl?

You can do a simple research and will be shocked

    Ps
Morrisons sun creams? Ah, I heard they were so good they'd turn you into a lobster just by looking at the bottle! But honestly, they didn't make the cut for comparison because we didn't want to risk starting a sunscreen war. Let's keep the beach peaceful, shall we? (edited)

People should be wearing natural minerals such as zinc oxide. These sunscreens are cheap for a reason. Look up the benefits of using a natural mineral sunscreen vs these.

This isn't UVA 5* by the way. A lot of supermarket own brand sprays offer better protection.
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
The UVA star system is broken. Not only does it not properly account for the full range of UVA but it's also relative to the SPF value.

SPF 50+ 3 stars UVA is better than SPF 30 5 stars for UVA protection for example.

Some companies like LRP don't show the stars at all anymore. This is despite the fact LRP Uvmune 400 is easily the best of the lot for UVA protection. It only shows the UVA stamp without the stars, this means it had at least a PPD of 16. The reality is their Invisible Fluid has a PPD of about 56 which is exceptionally high and yet doesn't represent the full picture as PPD is also flawed as it too doesn't properly represent UVA1.

The bottom line is if you actually want properly UVA protection, buy Uvmune or P20 Kids (not as good but better than 99%). Avene protects fully against the UVA range too but they have not released PPD values so it is unknown how strong any of the UVA protection is.

The vast majority of store brand sun creams and random ones you can buy use outdated filters that don't block UVA as well as we can do.

Uvmune also doesn't sting eyes. Which is a bonus. It probably protects the eyes from UVA a little too due to this ironically. (edited)

have they improved their UVA * rating, as I recall, boots/aldi were all 5*+ when nivea was only 3*
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
That's not how it works. UVA rating is done only in a ratio between the SPF value and the stars.

SPF50+ UVA 3 stars is better than SPF30 UVA 5 stars for example.

However, the star system itself is flawed. It doesn't properly cover the UVA1 range. The best sun cream in the world right now is La Roche-Posay Uvmune 400, which has a total of no stars listed, only a UVA approval mark (which means it had at least a PPD of 16). It actually has a PPD of 35-50+ depending on which version, but ultimately this is largely irrelevant too. The most important part is to simply do your research on the ingredients. Both PPD and the Boots UVA star rating are flawed and don't properly calculate the UVA1 coverage, only UVA2. So 95% of sun creams actually have a huge hole in UVA protection despite claiming to be good.

So what is the bottom line? You need to buy a sun cream with known high PPD / Boots UVA stars for UVA2 protection, high SPF value (50+ ideally) and the most modern advanced filter for UVA1 protection up to 400mm. This means that you basically shouldn't buy any sun cream that isn't La Roche-Posay Uvmune 400 or P20 Kids. Avene also has coverage up to 400mm but their PPD isn't proven so it may have overall low UVA2 coverage strength even if it covers the full spectrum of UVA unlike 95% of the options.

Every sun cream you buy needs to have Uvmune 400, Tinosorb M, TriAsorB or one of the other very advanced 400mm UVA1 filters that were launched in the past few years. If you actually want to prevent sun aging. (edited)

Please go for SPF 30 over 20. Anything on 50?
    HMin's avatar
50+ is the king.. even if they claim it's 50+ SPF, it's not.

Why did the lobster bring sun cream to the beach? Because it found a gap in the market and decided to become a "Brand" New England Lobster, complete with REAL SPF50 protection and laughing at the English machos with no protection at all, looking like lobsters the next day!
