I'd rather stick with Ebay thanks. There's no better place to sell your stuff, especially when offers like these come around every month. There's no better place to buy either.
I agree I've sold lots of items anybody with unwanted items even jazz mags under your bed sell them on eBay !

They've been saying that for years, the reality is quite the opposite, it's still the best selling platform for most people, I use other platforms but it's Ebay that manages to sell 99% of my goods.
If someone comes up with something better, they had better put a lot of money into advertising etc. because the likes of Ebid are making no headway, mostly because no one has heard of them.

Don't forget that you may not get an email - you can check whether or not you are eligible by going into your seller dashboard and you will see the offer listed there (if you're eligible, of course).
********Important info for sellers with items already listed**********
I just contacted eBay to ask whether or not cancelling an item that is already listed, activating this new offer, then re-listing the item contravenes their terms of usage. It was confirmed multiple times that this is not frowned upon in any way and that sellers are free to do this if they wish! Obviously, you may have to pay a fee if there are bids on an item already and I guess it may annoy potential buyers but it is allowed.

Both of those things are full of cretins, scammers and thieves.
I'd rather pay a few quid to ebay and not have to deal with all the hassle.
Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

You do realise that ebay owns Gumtree, don't you?
If you look at their financial position (for the last 5 years showing increased revenues), even after taking PayPal out of the equation, they're certainly not showing any signs of imminent insolvency. I suspect they've realised they need to get small sellers and private individuals back, to keep increasing their profits, rather than there's a collapse in the profit they're already making.
As a small seller I was hoping they'd start to feel the impact of their recent behaviour, but it doesn't seem to have affected the bottom line.

Although you didn't get an email, the offer would have shown on your ebay "all selling" page , under "promotional offers" - that's why it worked when you clicked the link given on this site.
It is only for "selected" persons, hence others will find link won't work.
Definitely. I think eBay realised a long time ago that the days of them being able to massively profiteer are long gone and they tend to have much more reasonable pricing and a lot of offers these days.
I personally will never sell anything on gumtree because I don't like the idea of dolies and drug addicts coming around to look at (read: scope out) my apartment and belongings.
from my experience it seems to relate to sales volume (and probably the other things in you seller dashboard, but mine have always been fairly good). There's probably a little bit of a behavioural aspect too; eg if you usually sell nothing and suddenly sell 10 items for £100 in a month you might get a better offer than someone who normally sells 100/£2000 doing 10/£100. its possible for the max fees they consider your typical per item sale value too?
It would be nice if those getting good offers would share why they think so based on their stats. I got the £3 offer and have sold mar:£147,apr:80,may: £40, with typical amount ~£30. when i had a couple of months at £300 and £500 they were throwing offers at me.

I don't get the hate for Gumtree. I've sold things on there for way more than I could have on eBay (and brought a few things too). Yes, there is a bit of hassle in arranging collection but nothing a quick call can't fix. There is a potential danger in meeting a stranger but my experience has been of a variety of people from different backgrounds. From students to a dad who just wanted a cheap audio system. As long as you follow common sense and don't put yourself or your house in danger, Gumtree is much better.
I use eBay for things that don't use sell well on Gumtree like books and retro stuff. It reachers a wider audience and I'm happy to pay the extra fee if it means I get rid of an unwanted item regardless of how much I get from it.
Having said all of that, promo doesn't work for me.

On the whole I far prefer it for buying, but I do sell a fair few things on there at great prices - stuff that would be difficult to shift anywhere else and would generally net me 20% (or more) less than what I'd get on eBay
