Just get StartRescue. Dead cheap, Which provider of the year endless times. The big names often call out local tow companies when they're busy anyway, chances are they're no better or actively worse because of being an additional middleman barrier to exactly the same thing. (edited)

Been using Startrescue for years. £18 for homestart and national recovery. (edited)

We've used AutoAid breakdown cover for years and they've been brilliant!
From £21.99 if covering a vehicle
From £63.64 for personal & spouse cover (irrespective of vehicle).
UK wide cover. Additional charge for EU recovery.

    Shows £74 for me

Anyone explain what it actually covers? Because when you add the extra it does go up back to normal prices.

With our starting level of breakdown cover you'll get Roadside Assistance, which is 24/7 support from a trained patrol if your car, van or motorbike breaks down more than 1/4 mile from your home.

If we can't fix the fault at the roadside, our vehicle recovery service will take you to a nearby garage – it's that simple

Get unlimited callouts, as long as it's not for a recurring problem with your vehicle3 (edited)

So if you're far from home, they'll take your car to a nearby garage but you need to find your own way home. Not much use in the dead of the night.
I never see much point in the basic level recovery services if I'm honest. Always worth paying the extra for unlimited mile recovery.

NO, the effective cost is £39.99 and the £20 non-cash gift card is a bonus for spending £39.99.

This is a brilliant deal I got it just over a year ago. Paid for itself with benefits discounts vision express and various restaurants discount. If you already have membership just use a different email it works.

Thanks @sajidtg worked for me. Just got to wait for the gift card now. I'm getting my 13 year old car back on the road after 8 months SORNED, so I might need this at some point.
    sashforth's avatar
I do hope that it is properly roadworthy. The AA, like other roadside assistance providers, are getting a bit more awkward about attending cars that they think aren't roadworthy or properly maintained.

Do people really buy this basic level of cover? Would have expected most would need national recovery.
    finknottle's avatar
No, no one buys it, that’s why they as a for-profit company offer it
  24. sarahashton99's avatar
