This cards are very hit or miss, I love my ps2's, i have 2 models and over last 14years I had many knock off memory cards and usually anything over 64mb was problematic. From having games that can't see cards of this size to cards suddenly dieing without any warning ...

The only PS2 memory cards above the official 8MB that I have had any personal luck with being error free have been the Datel Max Memory cards that went up to 64MB but no higher.

In fact the largest official PS2 memory card released was 32MB, but, was simply 4x 8MB cards with a "slot selector" button on the front, made by Katana and was the only officially licensed memory card to be technically larger than 8MB (because it still integrates MagicGate technology)

Be careful with these. They corrupt easily so don’t think you can cram your precious saves on here and be safe

Lost a tonne of ISS Pro Evo goals back in the day due to this third party compression garbage. Official cards all the way.

I remember when we didn't have a memory card so had to leave the PlayStation on all day to not lose progress

And turn it upside down to read a disc.

I remember first unboxing mine. Took the console outta the box and actually said 'is that it?' searched the box for the rest of it

If only we had these back in the day, EverQuest Online Adventures might have been good....

Still remember when there was a memory card shortage back in the day, a mate left his ps2 on for almost a week so he didn't lose his GTA3 progress.

For the more technically inclined there's also the PicoMemCard

And due this year but quite pricey: 8bitmods.com/mem…ck/

Amazing some of the things they are producing for the older consoles now. The GameCube is basically a new system with all the mods like multiple SD adaptors, HDMI, OLED top piece and bluetooth support etc.

I'd love to have the disposable cash to throw at them but I priced one up and it started hitting Series X prices...

Gotta love emulation for pure gameplay though

I've got two Gamecubes, ones boxed and stock, the other has a XenoGC in it, I did get a Pi Pico for picoboot but didn't fit it, will hold off for flippyboot next month now. Modding it because I can, I just use my Wii U for GC games now anyway as it's more convenient.

I've been playing PS2 games on Series S and it's been amazing. No updates to download, to trophies/achievements to distract, no filler collectibles, just good old school gaming. Ultimate Spider-Man is a blast. Getaway next.

What a throwback! I remember thinking 128MB was massive back in the day. Now we have 1TB in a pea sized memory card.

I remember the original 8MB PS2 memory cards.
Look at me now mum. Look how far I’ve come.

I remember when I worked for a big game retailer when I left school and sometimes, if we had preowned consoles that were faulty - we had to smash them up. PS2's smashed into a million pieces at the slightest bit of force (they were flimsy)... N64's on the other hand - You couldn't break.

These are very slow at reading and writing (~2-5 times slow as an official MagicGate card and corrupt constantly.

Stick to the standard 8MB ones. The only other I would trust are the Datel (Action Replay MAX) branded ones. A bit slower reading and writing but far, far more reliable.

Retroarch is an awesome emulator platform. Can save ps2 games etc at any point(y)
