Flights include 20kg luggage per person

The hotel you are staying at is

3 star Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista

The Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista is within easy reach of Walt Disney World and the Universal Orlando Resort - there's a free shuttle bus to both. It's got great pool and dining scenes, too.

The Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista provides easy access to Orlando’s world-famous theme parks. It’s a five-minute drive from Walt Disney World and puts on a free shuttle bus service there and to SeaWorld and the Universal Orlando® Resort. If you want to get out and about in the evenings, Disney Springs is a 10-minute drive away.

The rooms have little extras that make getting ready for a day at the parks easy. Fridges, microwaves and coffee-makers come as standard. Plus, they also have flat-screen TVs.

Two restaurants and a shop make up the facilities at this hotel. The property is located next to a lake, so it’s got an out-of-the-way feel while still being really close to all the parks.

Went in August once and never again. Unbelievable humidity in central Florida/ Orlando and heavy rain and lightning every afternoon for a couple of hours. Apparently this is normal as the moist air from the everglades at this time of year. I've been loada of times in spring and autumn and weather brilliant and less crowds. Also agree with comments about prices. Just back from Manhattan where we were charged $17 for a tin of beer plus 22% tip in a bar. Probably last visit to USA for a long time as just too expensive now. Hotel prices crazy too.

What did you expect from Florida in August?

Worth ensuring that you budget for the higher costs in the US, between the exchange rate being worse and their own inflation its incredibly expensive to eat out now. More so than in the UK in some places and even in out of the way places you are paying London prices for drinks.

I don't disagree with you - am flying out to West Coast on Thurs for a road trip and dreading some of the costs - but the exchange rate is the same as 5 years ago and at the highest rate in over a year!

Why not stay in UK? We have sovereignty and took back control!

Add another £4000 minimum for park tickets , food and drink and transport if needed . Gone are the days of the $500 2 week car rentals.
A cold beer at Volcano mountain was $14 , I bought a soft drinks pass and sneaked a bottle of Rum in lol ! Made my own cocktails
Everything in the USA is extortionate now (edited)

We booked a Disney hotel for next year, it was £2.5k for 2 weeks and came with $900 credit and will save on expensive car hire and the $25 a day to park! Beer prices have always been high in the parks, I normally drink in the villa. I might have to start getting back into spirits as I'll get a drinks package for the resort.

You can check the food prices here but it's snacks/water/soft drinks that are expensive, QS food prices are OK.

Thanks, but I'll pass. The US is now as expensive as Australia, food bargains are long gone.

Wow it seems like everything were going great there up to 2021. I wonder what changed then... :/

If you want to save money on food, limit the number of table service meals you have. Service is often poor yet the expectation is 20% tip regardless of how bang average the food and service is. Easily $100+ for two people. There's certain restaurants I'd not set foot in again. Cowfish being one at Universal. I would recommend Moe's Southwest grill or Panda Express instead. You can share a packed full burrito between two as you get free tortilla chips anyway. Buy the bigger plate at Panda Express and you can do the same. Voodoo donut is reasonably priced for the quality of you want dessert (or breakfast - maple and bacon)

You are eating at the roughest places, Panda Express is 😷
tips in US are mandatory for table service but there’s not many places I would bother with in the parks apart from in Disney where I’ve always had good table service.

Might be a good thing 😜

Really tempted, I went in 2012 and was amazed at how cheap it was to eat in Orlando. Sounds like it’s gone up massively which is a shame. Many all you can eat places for $8/9, couple hundred for a dodge charger for 2 weeks.. might need to save for a few years now!

Mix between covid and brexit. Covid messed the car hire coast up everywhere, you’ll find the same in Tenerife etc.
our economy is really struggling compared to the US so exchange rate is horrible. Obviously covid and the hand ours made inflation rampant. It’s not cheap anymore but also not that different to the UK tbh. Which is a shame as it used to be more than half price.

How much you talking to add theme park tickets to this holiday?
    rs_tigerblade's avatar
Depends what theme park, Disney is £500 pp for 2 weeks there shouts. I know you can get good sea world tickets with all you can eat etc which seem to be pretty popular..

Term time, it’s going to sound cheap

Pretty good deal was Orlando last year , time before that was 2016 and difference in spending is at least double and more… food, parks, car hire, shopping etc. so worth taking that into account…. Other then that all good aside tui are worst company I’ve ever dealt with, cheaper deals but absolutely zero customer service or after care if anything goes wrong…
