    Obviously a "dust cap" should just be that and not really need a seal to resist air loss. But we had a tyre that mysteriously deflated. We had no explanation as when pumped up it held pressure fine for days, we even thought maybe foul play had been involved. But then it happened again, and this time there was obvious leakage from the valve. So after replacing the valve core I added these caps on all our tyres as an extra insurance against leaks. (edited)
