About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Royal Mail appear to have slashed their Tracked parcel prices further overnight with 2KG Tracked 48 small parcels (max size 45 x 35 x 16cm) just £2.85 with £100 compensation included, and Tracked 24 just £3.95.

These rates are even cheaper than the previous reduced rates that came into effect mid August (£3.35 T48, £4.45 T24) and which are due to expire end of December; these new rates run until December 4th [EDIT: extended into the new year, expiry date on deal extended].

Important thing to note when purchasing Royal Mail Tracked is that they can't be taken to Post Offices; they need to be taken to a Delivery Office, or alternatively you can arrange free collection or use a Parcel Post Box (if you don't need proof of posting).

If you need signature on delivery then add 36p to prices above.

*Promotional pricing available between 04:00 on 02.11.2022 and 23:59 on 02.01.2023 on Tracked 24 & Tracked 48 online postage only (non-account product). Promotion does not apply to Tracked 24 & Tracked 48 account postage.

As a postman of 36 years this is unbelievable as our CEO Simon Thomson is declaring we are losing £1million a day, I’m not surprised that we are in trouble as he’s the worst CEO in any companies history. He’s a bully, he’s picking fights with management, staff moral is at the bottom of the barrel & no one is standing up to him apart from us.
    He’s paying himself a bonus of £140,000 & being awarded 300,000 free shares.😡😡😡😡

That's the problem when you have various parts of a business, some make money others don't. What needs to happen is someone that thinks they can do better need to buy out the normal delivery service and let them stick to the bits they actually want. Perfect idea for a union, Show how it should be done whilst also paying members more.,

Almost perfect for what I need apart from the issue of not being able to drop off at local post office, no mater what I do there's only the option for collection and no drop off.
    joeydeacon's avatar
You can use a regular post pox and use the RM app to scan the label to get proof of postage. I do this with RM tracked all the time.
  3. herby247's avatar
As a postie the collection of parcels service is taking off in a big way.

Even bringing the label if you don't have a home printer.

Just announced in the last few days, as long as you have a min of one collection booked, we can now collect a maximum of another 5 that are not on the original booking...

Ie ebay items that have sold since you made the collection request can now be added to the collection booked for pick up.

Business accounts will not be happy that regular customers spending very little money are getting better prices than them . This is now the case on my Business account.

Excellent - I have been using the free Royal Mail collection for a while now with very little issues. Works out cheaper for me than taking it to the post office even when they were charging 48p.

I will switch my 2nd class to tracked 48 and 1st class to tracked 24.

These prices are also available when you purchase your postage via Ebay for anybody wondering.
    taylor_swiftie's avatar
Do you have to add the service on to your ebay listing? As ive never had the option to buy tracked 24 or 48, when buying a postage label.
  5. neon85's avatar
Have been using tracked 48 for a while now, prefer it to second class because of the added compensation.

    A few things to note.

When you book through the app, it forces you to book a collection date/time. You can simply delete this from the basket before paying if you don't want it collected.

If you do plan to drop off, you cannot drop off tracked 24/48 parcels at a normal post office. You have to take them a delivery office.

You don't get printed proof of postage on drop off, you need to take part of the label to get stamped as proof of postage.
    simonp99's avatar
Their compensation is only ever paid in books of stamps so it seems
  6. amygreen79677's avatar
Do we even need to pay for tracked delivery anymore? - their new barcoded stamps are trackable through their system, not available to the public I don't think, but still, if you take a picture of the stamp you send your package with, and it gets lost, you could just send them the picture of the stamp barcode and say, "Right, track that and tell me where it is!" - Royal Mail really have no more excuses for lost mail, if they are able to track them as they claim. And if they can't track the lost package based on a picture of the barcoded stamp, then I'd want a refund for the stamp as well, rip-off and false claims.
    TinplateGeek's avatar
Barcode on stamps are not for tracking. They are an anti fraud device to stop fake stamps. Tracking involves scanning a package at every sorting office on its journey when it is physically sorted for its next onward stage.

Update, after not knocking yesterday to collect two parcels booked and after rebooking for today, I watched from my window all morning, postman comes just before 12 and after delivering next door walks right past my house, so I chase down road with parcels and after checking his scanner says oh yes, no apology and no explanation.

The system for this doesn't seem very reliable, but at least my wasted morning was not in vain, though not sure would use again just for the extra insurance with tracked, given the unreliability of collection. (edited)

We’ve talked to our postie about it and apparently it’s a shambles thanks to their bosses. They were basically told “you’re collecting now” and that’s it. Plus their systems had a lot of glitches the last few months.

Obviously that’s not the customers fault, if we’re offered a service then it should work. But I do think it’s just a temporary mess since these are all fairly new services they’re offering

    Too many strikes.
    Rubbish service.
    Stuart_Higgs's avatar
Perhaps you should look at why there are strikes do you remember what p.o did to there staff this is where Royal mail are going owner drivers no sick pay real terms pay cut do away with your daily delivery etc
  9. yus786's avatar
You can get proof of postage through the app when dropping off at a parcel post box

It's under the other services option

Oh that's handy to know, thanks! I've not used the Parcel Post Boxes before so was going off their own home page which says 'Drop off at a Parcel Post Box, as long as you’re not using a Tracked or Signature service and you don’t require a proof of postage'. Maybe they need to update that then!

    Is this 24 / 48 days? (edited)
    Ukguy101's avatar
It's there "aim" but could take 96 days lol!
  11. COMARANTZ's avatar
I have just received a parcel 48 hour tracked.  It was SENT 7 DAYS AGO !  Even allowing for a 1-day strike it was a totally useless waste of time.
    etcuk's avatar
I had a special delivery item take 3 days to arrive this week but so what. It’s not the posties fault or the sorting office, it’s the “management” that think they can ride roughshod over their workers, who cares if it takes an extra day or two, if you do send it DPD, it’s not like we don’t know there is a strike ongoing.

I do not work for the mail service but I support anyone wanting a fair wage for what they do. (edited)
  12. sam.hkud's avatar
Don't even deliver , just leave red card to save them the hassle . Have to go to Royal mail delivery office every other day to collect. See so long queue there . Wasting every ones time and petrol . (edited)

No it's normal Tracked offering, can be collected free or dropped off at Delivery Office / parcel post box etc. As always, just not Post Office.
  14. Teliffant's avatar
They charged me £4.45 to send a double cd second class recorded delivery, this is the same as if id sent a pair of shoes, i really don't understand how they justify it, incidently neither did the staff. This however is a great deal 👌
    sueyc's avatar
You bought in store? Way cheaper to buy online and have them collect or drop at delivery office/parcel postbox
  15. consolegamer's avatar
DPD is the only good one and their drivers are friendly too. To be fair some of Royal Mails are too.
    MrAkagi's avatar
DPD and DHL are very reliable but they cost way more than Royal Mail and Evri. You get what you pay for I suppose.
  16. COMARANTZ's avatar
Well, my statement was simply pure facts. There was no tracking available until the actual day of delivery and no explanation. I don't know or care who is responsible, It simply cost me time stress and money trying to get a result.
    etcuk's avatar
Tracking 48, it’s pretty explicit that service doesn’t live track on Royal Mail’s website.

it also “aims” to deliver in 48 hours, the only Guaranteed one you can claim compensation for is Special Delivery and if you had checked Royal Mail’s website in the last couple of weeks it does say that delivery times will be impacted so expect delays.

The fact they suspended special delivery should give anyone a fair idea that Tracked 48 is not going to be high on their priority list when it’s the equivalent of Second Class.

If you had checked the website you would have got your answer on there.

Be careful with the £100 compensation as with all couriers it's based on cost price and not the sale price. You will need to have proof of the cost price either by invoice from manufacturer or the cost of the materials to produce the goods.
    Matty130788's avatar
I've submitted loss claims to Royal Mail and they have paid the Ebay sale price.
  18. koolishy67's avatar
Used few times no problem at all so far postmen always collect from my house
    harry66's avatar
I have used RM Tracked with Collection for at least 15 eBay parcels and several returns to other companies - only one time has the postie not collected on the given day.

I can usually book a collection for the next working day and always mention in my eBay listing that the cheaper service will add an extra day to the dispatch time...

And all the items were delivered within the 24 or 48 periods that I had selected.
I also like the 'Bring My Label' feature which saves me the hassle of printing a label onto an A4 sheet, cutting and sticking it onto the parcel. (edited)
  19. T_AhNO's avatar
My experience of this service used on 27th Oct where I bought the parcel postage online and elected for collection with label being provided upon collection. The postman informed there is a system issue so can't print label. I offered to print using my home facity but he was not interested and informed I need to drop it off to post office or delivery office myself. After he left I looked up the staus of package and the postman had marked parcel unavailable for collection which also informs as a result it will not be eligible for compensation if it goes missing when it does get posted subsequently. My interpretation is that the postman who is delivering his usual post does not want to be collecting items weighing upto 2kg to carry along his round. So next time I use the service I'll print lable myself and drop off at delivery office.

More likely 480 hrs not 48 with them lately
    stingersplash's avatar
Haha. Very funny. Actually I've had 48 stuff delivered next day in some cases. And those affected by strikes were 72.
  21. rahhjarr's avatar
I keep using Royal Mail because of the cheap business rates but they have lost WAY more items (especially untracked/standard mail) than any other courier service, it's not even close.
  22. spankwilder's avatar
I’ve used this recently. Collection is just the regular postman that delivered. Couple of things were useless -1st was that our Delivery Office doesn’t accept anything booked online, apparently they’d been waiting 6 months for the printer and scanner.. which now makes it over a year and the delivery office still can’t accept parcels booked online.

Second was refunds, if you book a service (like one you can’t use at a delivery office) you have no proof of requesting a refund only that it’ll turn up in your bank within ‘a long period of time’ although that seems to have changed to 10 days.. still, I requested a refund on the website within 5min of ordering, the postman still expected to collect the parcel the following day :/ .

However, I’ve shipped around 190 parcels on eBay and Royal Mail have delivered each one on time (well.. no complaints, definitely everything signed for was within time, and a few people commenting that some packages on a standard service were received next day..)
  23. dm01's avatar
I had to ring them since it says nothing on the web site about what to do if they don't collect, seems you have to make a new booking online, you cannot just give them to the postman on the next day, so had to import all the details again from scratch for tomorrow. (edited)
  24. Roygroyg's avatar
In case of use to anyone else then be aware if buying via eBay it forces you to book a collection date for this postage option even if plan to drop off at delivery office or use parcel box. It drops the first day in by default and can’t change to no.

I bought this morning thinking there would be a way to cancel the collection either at final payment stage or after but after a lot of searching there is no option to: it’s come up on their community forums and consensus is you have to buy via RM site if want to cancel:

I called RM and they just said I had to cancel on the third party site and their email confirmation says the same. I would have been happy with collection but customer paid for a quicker delivery so waiting another day for collection especially given some experiences here on no shows was not an option. Put in parcel box this morning and just hoping postie that picks up scans otherwise apparently the tracking might not register. After posting someone on the community page said that when postie comes to collect tomorrow even though I tell them it has already gone they will mark as not collected which gets fed onto buyer.

Lesson learned buy postage before midnight to get next day collection or don’t buy on eBay!

Edit: on my community query a few users have said that a new option excluding collection has been recently added. Not had sale yet to verify. (edited)

Don't even see the option for 24/48 tracked in the postage options.
  25. Shaun_Wilkinson's avatar
I guess tracked 24 or 48 is number of days it takes to deliver from the part time postal service?
    Kenny_Mcconnell's avatar
Part time postal service ! How dare we strike when royal mail imposes a 2% rise on its posties and wants mandatory Sunday working 5 o'clock end of deliveries terms and conditions eroded. HOW DARE WE STRIKE

I use Royal mail for my business with a business account. This is cheaper than what I pay! Surely my bulk mail should be at cheaper rates than to one off public rates. Scam of a company. My rates went up last month.

I've been having bad experiences with several couriers over the past few weeks.
    They are slacking!
    spaceinvader's avatar
Yea, we all just simultaneously just decided the 65 hour weeks are just too much, and we're paid so well we can all just afford to chill from now on. People develop the weirdest stories in their minds about secotrs they don't understand, and preach it like its gospel, lol
  29. samspud's avatar
Will they be working enough days to make it worth it?

Unbelievable. Turn down a 7% pay rise.
    thepostie's avatar
Nowhere near 7% if you see all the things we are losing for this so called rise. People get Sunday bonuses at the moment every 3 months and decent money for working a Sunday. Why they can't just leave things alone such as the later starts/evening working until 5pm and just let people or casuals do it on overtime. Fair enough make us work our hours which most are doing now anyways but we would gladly take 1% or nothing if they just left us alone. There's more than enough profit for everyone if this company was managed better!

  31. GreyFluff's avatar
They cancelled my collections for today claiming it was "too big" it's just slightly bigger than a small parcel, they were just too lazy to come up my one way street. Cancelled the collection before seeing the package.
    Martin_Atherton's avatar
If the postman doesn't have a van only a trolley he is still expected to pick up parcels from customers. Quite often we have to knock them back because the trolley is full of bags of mail to deliver. It's a terrible system.
  32. deleted1129768's avatar
I Believe it says they "Aim" to delivery in that time but it is not guaranteed.
    Wonder why that is?

I think this might well be the worst service I have ever used.. I have been using MyHermes for year and they have been fine.. But I saw the offer on eBay for Royal Mail and figured it was worth a punt.

I assumed/hoped that I could buy the service and take it to the post office myself to speed it up by a day... WRONG.. I went there and they scanned the parcel which reported that it was "Not valid at a post office".

So I had to wait an extra day until my planned collection day.. Today..

Its now almost 3pm and no-one has collected.. And my customer was expecting delivery by today...

I can't take it to a post office.. My local Sorting office is closed until Monday.. And I am currently on hold with a 30 minutes wait to Royal Mail, who I know won't be able to help me...

So this is a really bad situation, as I can't get hold of anyone.. I can't re-arrange the collectioin.. And I am in limbo.. And my customer who spent over £100 with me isn't close to having their item..

    Absolutely terrible service!
    rev6's avatar
It does show that post office drop off is not available and you'll need to use the delivery office.

My 24H delivery has barely moved. It should be delivered today. I'll be using UPS again next time. (edited)

Sent 3 items out using this offer (48hr tracked) on Friday and all 3 items have been delivered this morning after checking on my app.

The Royal Mail does deliver and I’ve saved myself a few quid.

Big thanks to the OP. (edited)

Collection? They would have to not be on strike 😬
Let me down twice last week, even when the strikes had ended, got a refund and decide to use another company.
    jaizan's avatar
Agreed. It makes far more sense to use a reliable delivery company.
  39. Toonah's avatar
Good service, but not if you book it day before a strike... And (obviously) it's not collected on a strike day, it just leaves it as uncollected, and no email to say to reorganise.

I did this last week as I'd forgot it was going to be a strike, on the Friday looked at the booking to see if it would say anything about it, but just marked as not being collected. I could book new collection but that meant it was collected Saturday (day after). 🤦🏻‍♀️ If I'd not checked, I might have forgotten it for a few more days (entirely my fault there).
    stingersplash's avatar
Weird because when I book a collection the strike days are greyed out making it impossible to book. So I choose the day after and it's collected.
  40. anthony_brownU10's avatar
