About Cinnamon Dhonveli
Cinnamon Dhonveli is a 4-star resort in the Maldives which offers beachfront and overwater suites and bungalows suitable for families, friends, and couples. There's live entertainment every night, but the island is known for is its surfing. It’s home to Pasta Point, a famous spot described as the “wave machine of the North Malé Atoll” so it’s a popular choice with surfers and watersports enthusiasts.

The non-surfers will be pleased to hear that, while the resort owns its surfing roots, it’s a great place for some R&R. The gym and spa offer up wellness classes and relaxation treatments, boats float out at sunset for a dinner cruise, and the white-sand beaches have sun loungers all over the place.

Who Is It Great for?Cinnamon Dhonveli is where surfers mingle, but it’s great for all holiday groups: families, couples, and friends. There are plenty of activities to get stuck into: live entertainment, themed parties, indoor and outdoor sports, a playground, and more.

Local Area and Things to DoCinnamon Dhonveli is full of beach and watersports, from volleyball and tennis to surfing and diving. The island is close to a handful of world-famous dive sites and the famous surfing spot of Pasta Point so these are the two top activities for visitors. Banana boating, windsurfing, and dolphin watching are a great place to start.

Another favourite pastime is island hopping, because it’s surrounded by uninhabited islands where you can have the beach all to yourself. The inhabited islands of Huraa Island, Himafushi Islands, and Malé are must-sees too, where you can buy handmade crafts and explore Maldivian life. The resort organises a number of excursions to these, including a submarine trip to Malé.

Wouldn’t go. Just got back. Won’t be sea plane transfer. Will be speedboat. Excursions cost the earth. Superior room with sea view is just bland. Even best rooms has poor view. Spend your ££ elsewhere

What excursions can you do from here?
    Speedfriend's avatar
You can visit Pompeii, climb Mount Everest and water water raft the Zambezi. But be aware, the transfer times are long...

This is a really bad deal and sponsored. Be aware people, not all hot deals are actually hot.

How is it a bad deal?

Stayed here a couple of years ago, absolutely beautiful place. Would 100% recommend.

Edit: This is also a speedboat ride from Male airport and not a seaplane transfer. (edited)

Stayed  a few years ago at this place , 25 minute speed boat ride , had a beach side villa , a courtyard with an outdoor shower and bath , food was lovely and you have the same table each time as it’s reserved by your room number . Walked around the island in 20 mins though but loads of hermit crabs to see . 7 days is enough though as not much to do apart from relax , trips out are very expensive as they whack loads of tax on it . Also the all inc drinks package only covered certain drinks , others like hot chocolate/ameretto was extra . Swimming was great and swam with a turtle for an hour one day . We did fly direct though with BA and it was in January the dry season

Stayed at the other Cinnamon Maldives resort which was nice. I wonder what the house reef and snorkeling is like here?... Slightly concerned about talk of surfing...as strong waves would impact on the former. Also wonder what the spread of nationalities is here, as at resorts there that overwhelmingly have clients from one country/travel agency, this can impact on the enjoyment of services/cuisine offering/activities/"vibe" for others.

Went here for my honeymoon - 100% recommend it

Yeah I find this a bit shit. Deal editor must have a bit of a conflict of interest here.

For a start Quidco do 3.6/5.4% cashback - that's a hell of a lot of money on this size of booking. Not really money saving for the user that buys it but very lucrative for the site, why not remind people of this.

If you're gonna go, do your research on resorts as there are numerous ones, and depending on your tastes different things will have more prominence. Some people like the water villas, some people like the ones on the beach.

It's off season in July and there should be many deals around - if you look on Destination2 you can see other 4-stars cheaper than this for the same dates - again, no idea if better or worse, more research would be needed.

I find Destination2 a good site for Maldives deals, actually offering genuine upgrades. Unfortunately they don't do cashback so I suspect that is why they don't get sponsored deals.

Stayed here for the honeymoon last year. Nice place, however real boring (unless you're big into your water activities). Wont be a seaplane transfer either as speedboat only takes 30 mins as it is.

prices quoted end october are for a 14 hour flight with stopover in abu dhabi or direct flight up to £500 extra! (edited)

Be aware... There is a mass coral bleaching event predicted over these upcoming months.

Already hit Florida, now it's at the Great Barrier Reef, with bleaching expected April onwards in Maldives.

I'm typing this from the Maldives, it's already bleached I'm afraid

    July is the rainy season.
    DealNinja's avatar
They are all rainy season these days. Just been in February and we saw some torrential rain too. It's getting to the point where you can chance it in wet season and get as much sunshine.

Been here fir honeymoon. Excellent hotel.
Get your own table in the restaurant as well, no need to fight for one.
House reef is OK at the beach due to the sandy nature but excellent near the smaller over water bungalows (sharks, turtles, stingrays).
The poster should change the original listing as it is boat transfers to the resort, not sea plane.

It wasn't worth taking such a long flight and spending so much for a holiday in an isolated place and substandard service. Never going back again.

Agree the most boring place ever.

£3041 if you go 1st July but be aware this is fo the basic room if you want a water villa (whole point of going to Maldives or Tahiti) it's an extra £700
    DealNinja's avatar
Water villa really isn't "the whole point" of going there at all. The beach bungalows are very enjoyable and a much much cheaper way of travelling to The Maldives with the same tranquility.

Do they do transfers from the Orkneys?

yep direct flights 3x per day

    £3,000 for a chalet holiday.
  27. gleechy's avatar
so this is a sponsored deal that figures - this place doesn't sound like a good deal or a bargain to me, if you have to upgrade to get the luxury feel, when seven nights is up you only have the photos & memories & a 3 thousand pound+ shaped hole in your pocket. Now where did I put that knotted hankey..
  28. flippa.stokes's avatar
Stayed here in 2017. Newly built back then. Won't be a sea plane transfer, its too close to Male. It will be a speed boat transfer. Watch for hidden charges and challenge them. They like to add a bit on, knowing you're likely to not want a fuss and settle it. When they were developing the beach by the restaurant, there was a big storm and some of the power cables were exposed under foot. I hope they have resolved that.
