Avoid. This first gen panel has way too many issues from short term and long term users.

A boat load of qd-oled monitors are on the way from Samsung, LG and MSI, maybe more, wait for them to be reviewed.

Update: Voted “best monitor” by Dell-sponsored pre-released short term reviews. (edited)

Samsung and MSI would be using the same panel. LG unlikely to do so, but then their tech has other issues so..

I don't think there is a perfect monitor, this isn't but its close. It is reviewed in many places as the best monitor you can get, so to say "avoid" I think is unfair.

Just be very careful on the warranty. Some of these firms buy direct from Dell which transfers the warranty to them and you will no longer get Dell warranty and might only have 1 year warranty direct with tab. I know for sure one of the other resellers on eBay for sell have warranty with themselves only

Yup. It’s shady of dell if they’re off-loading their large number of returns to these firms at a lower cost to lower the manufacturer returns.

Folks really need to look into this product before buying into it.

There's been a lot of issues with these, thus they've had a lot of returns. I'd guarantee a lot of these refurbished units have either dead or stuck pixels, loud fans or other screen issues that the manufacturers don't consider to be faults.

There will be deals in the future that will bring the brand new units down to this level as they were a month ago.

    Avoid. (edited)

When you are spending over £500+ on a monitor you want a good warranty (returns process), personally id rather pay more and have peace of mind then get a open box model.

Dell apply the warranty to their product, not the owner.

Recommend waiting for 6th Dec. Dell are releasing a new version of this monitor for £929. With Amex £100 off £750+ and TCB 10.4%, should be right around £730.

Well I received mine today from the £799 offer a few days ago. Been thinking of buying this monitor for while and at the price I bit. Could have waited 2 days and got it £10 cheaper but oh well...
    Boxed and in mint condition.

Been testing it with everything for the past 7 hours and haven't found any faults. No dead pixels or blemishes to the screen.
Just ran the serial through Dell warranty check and its in warranty till July 2025.
Couldn't be happier, its better than I imagined even after reading lots of reviews.

    Great to hear!

Gutted I didn't wait a day for the extra £10 off but hey ho!

Excited to receive mine now, enjoy

Probably not gonna happen for a couple generations, at least with QD-OLED. The 34" panel is viable as it fits into quite nice divisions of Samsung's QD-OLED mother glass

Personally wouldn't touch refurbs unless they were direct from the manufacturer so you have a more robust warranty, hate dealing with 3rd parties.

Also, is this not marginally cheaper than what it was buying new from Dell ? (edited)

Does not look like HDMI 2.1?
    Shahintr's avatar
    Shahintr
    Isn’t. The Samsung G8 qd-oled has hdmi 2.1 only.
