Been here in 2020 before the pandemic, at the time the pools were very cold, and have salt water, but I guess at this time of year it would be much better. Resort is beautiful but there is absolutely nothing to do except what's inside the resort. It's in the middle of nowhere at the southern coast of Boa Vista. In general the island is almost completely empty. You can hire a car (which will most often be a 4x4 pickup because some of the roads are just dirt trails) and go exploring, but again, most of the island is nothing but barren landscape.
Although, we did do a quad bike adventure on the sand dunes which was absolutely spectacular.
The beach at the hotel is beautiful white sand, but again the waves are large and a bit unsafe for swimming.

I had great fun doing donuts near the salt flats, then trying to find my way into town where the road took me through someone's back yard, I ended up taking the car back 3 hours later as we had done it all

Loved it, very hot though and the sea is best described as deadly, be lucky to see orange flags, mainly red ones.

Agreed - the waves are amazing.

It's not an island where there is loads to do. If you want nice beach, pool, good food and drink and >25*C every day then this is the place to go. If you are a sightseer and explorer etc then this probably isn't the place.

Great deal if you're after last miniute deal

£755 each is great value. We had people near us mentioning how it has cost them upwards of a grand for 7 nights last year.

Tip would be to book in for any of the speciality restaurants as soon as you can on the app.

Personally thought the Asian was the best of the bunch.

If I recall correctly when we were there block 9/8 were being refurbished so if you can talk your away into those should be alright albeit they are the furthest from the ‘main square’ - similarly block 2 is a walk and half on the opposite side as well.

Also forgot to add souvenirs - if you’re after some walk down onto the beach, both left and right of the hotel are little huts with vendors in during the day. Super friendly, lots of different souvenirs and one of them kept add extra freebies to what we had bought (edited)

We were there a few years ago in the Adult only section and it was wonderful as it was a quiet area and when you could go to the main pool area for some activities if you wanted . The Mrs really loved the aqua classes.

Thanks for this, we love riu been to boa vista a couple of times in the riu karamboa
As diamond card holders we will get an upgraded room so £1500 at the end of peak season is an absolute bargain

Went here last year in May.
Hotel is nice but it is probably due for a refurb.
Food was ok, always hot, but getting into the other restaurants using the App was a nightmare.
Sunbed situation was terrible, you had to be up early to get one. Having said that the infinity pool was closed so that didn't help.

Nothing else around at all, oh and dont expect to be able to go in the sea. Wd had a red flag for 10 days solid.

    About 200 more than OP?
Still a bargain at 858 per person

It is Turtle nesting season...I'm in Boavista now and it was a great tour watching the turtles lay their eggs.
This will still be ongoing end of Aug and by then with luck you might be able to watch some hatching too.
The main Turtle conservation area is about 30mins of dirt tracks from Toureg but I recommend a guide.
We used FeFe tours and recommended them though many do it. Use a local company rather than Tui. It is cheaper and doing the Islanders a favour

Did a scuba dive too...was excellent. (edited)
