Bought this last year, cable issue within months, rendered it useless. Would avoid

    20 KiloMilliAmpHours? That's nearly 20Ah!

Came here to comment on that. Disgusting.

If memory serves these were decent with the only issue being that the cables were a bit dodgy and if they broke you couldn't replace them. (edited)
    sheffield788's avatar
No dodgy cable. It was only an assumption, none of those who commented actually owned one.
I posted this several times. I've got mine for £13 a few years ago. These were not £20 for 2, the Zagg ones higher capacity and lower specs were at that price. Good price for Zagg if you ask me.
This is my 2nd best power bank out of 16 (yes, I'm crazy ). And yes, as with all power banks with integrated cables, if the cable breaks, you may have to dispose the power bank. (edited)

Decent price but integrated cables are a nightmare if they get damaged.
    sheffield788's avatar
3 years old and still going strong. The cable is sturdy. (edited)

This is good for just chucking in your bag and not having to worry about carry a cable as well. If you want a more advanced one lots of ports, features, capacity, etc. I'd personally think it worth paying more for a well known brand with long warranty.

Doesn't have PD, so it's not obsolete but it's of less relevance for the future.
  7. Willy_Wonka's avatar
These are great powerbanks for the money & casual user & a great price.

If you are using it daily then eventually the cables will fail, the same as any other cables we use & maneuver several times a day. The bonus is if the cables last longer than the rechargeable battery.

So, all positive comments & concerns are valid. Will the cables outlive the battery? That is going to dependent on how it is handled.

I got one on the previous deal and can say it’s good but the integrated cables are a pain. It wouldn’t be so bad if they allowed for both usb c input & output with any cable. The INIU for £15~ is probably a better pick
  8. Ashdash2019's avatar
Still have mine after 3 years plus now at lest. One the cables don't work right now tho. After I dropped it lol. But still working tho. 50877418-4Tv1M.jpg (edited)

I’m sorry but 15W over USB-C in 2023 is pointless. This will only charge a phone - for most other purposes (Switch, laptops, tablets) 15W simply isn’t enough. A large capacity is only useful if it’s able to output that capacity quickly. Not to mention it would take over half a day to charge the power bank from empty.

There’s obviously a reason why this is £12. (edited)

It'll charge my little DJI drone so it'll do me

    I don’t need another power bank. I don’t need a power bank

Voted hot, stunning deal, shame you pay for postage. I've got mine cheaper, for £13 about 3 years ago, and it is one of the best power banks I ever had.
Altigo is under Zagg umbrella, a very good brand. The integrated cable is sturdy. The power bank is metal built and quite small, considering it is 20k. On the previous deals, some left comments that it takes forever to charge it. It does if you do it using the micro usb port and a 5-10w charger. Use the USB C port for charging it, and it takes about 5 hours to have it charged. This is one of my best purchases from HUKD (well, I was the first one who posted this on HUKD and it is my 2nd hottest deal). It is a bit obsolete in comparison with the latest power banks, but it does a great job. (edited)

What would you go for now if this is a bit obsolete?
  13. mhopley's avatar
Thanks, I really like the integrated cables. My son pinched my last one, so ordered one from here.

Highly recommend - bought 3 years ago from HUKD and still going strong - no issues at all with chargning on both (or even 3) ends!!!!
  15. ficler1977's avatar
i have this. bought years ago for £20. Still works great.
there is no power delivery on this one. so cannot use for laptop but great for mobile phones.

I have a second one, my old one was being carried in a pannier but some beer bottles broke and it found itself swimming in a waterproof bag of beer and glass all the way home on the back of a cargo bike.
I can confirm that if you expect it to survive such an ordeal you will be disapointed.

Before that it worked very well.

I would prefer if it charged faster but it is my second favourite mobile charger. (and I have a lot of them)
    HUKDUser10's avatar
II didn't dare use the :-), at least your power bank drowned in something purer than the seas around the UK currently. At least it confirmed that the pannier was liquid proof. The :-( might have been better. It was/is a good charger. (edited)

Non-detachable cables is a design flaw.
    sheffield788's avatar
It is my favourite design. Shame it cannot be used for input as well.
  18. smartarse99's avatar
My first one lasted a couple of years then died. Bought the same one to replace it (a couple of years daily use is good going I reckon!) and it had a dodgy cable that came away within a day. They quickly replaced it though. Heat added! The free case thing is cool but a bit pointless with larger phones so it went straight in the gift box!
  19. Impoor's avatar
Man I lost my one like a year ago but this was great. Super tempted to get another one now arrgh.

Anyone else that had/has one find the micro usb doesn't charge certain devices?
    McAfeeman's avatar
For lower draw devices you need to double tap the button at the top IIRC
  20. coolstar's avatar
I've had this exact model for the past 2 years - it's built like a tank so good durability but a bit long and heavy but it's a high capacity power bank so to be expected. Really been a great trusty power bank for me. Sure the charging speeds now seem a bit slow compared to the latest offerings but 20,100 mah for £16 delivered really has to be a bargain. The built in cables are also really useful
    sheffield788's avatar
I completely agree with your comment, and the brand is good, too. I don't understand why some people go with totally unknown brands, when Scan sold reliable brands such as Zagg, Altigo or Mophie at bargain prices.
  21. HUKDUser10's avatar
Leaving aside the fact that there are newer and faster/lighter/all dancing alternatives, this has been a very reliable power bank. I got it on a Scan deal from here about 3 years ago and it works really well. I like the metal case. It seems heavy, but it holds a lot of juice and doesn't seem to lose any power if I don't use it for charging for a while. It works reliably with phones and other small devices - ebook reader, bluetooth speakers, torch, lamp etc. I've got an old Samsung F3 MP3 player, it saves using the phone for sounds on long days away from charging points, this will not take a charge from this power bank, everything else I've tried does so well. I've never had a problem with the integrated cables, just checked and there is no sign of them possibly failing soon.

I think I got the same scan deal. I second that review (edited)

Is it just me or does this look like a trouser press from the thumbnail image?
    HUKDUser10's avatar
I've never used a trouser press, I used to see them in the corner of some hotel rooms but left them well alone, so I'll rely on your recognition abilities!

I have a couple of these, no complaints. But I wish they'd do a lightning + USB-C one, instead of USB-C and Micro USB.
    sheffield788's avatar
They do lightning + micro usb. Here is a special price for you, but you have to wait for the stock

I have Anker 20k which I buy for 27£ years ago. Still Good don't need it but this one looks good.
    expats's avatar
I also have an Anker one. It is far superior to these (which I have 2 of). These don't seem anywhere near the same capacity as the Anker (but with the same advertised mAH).

    Ordered 2 and ....
    - The powerbank is a very heavy thing, really large and not light at all!
    - 1 of the mophie cases came broke, they sent another and again this was broke as well!

Good company to deal with, but would't recommend this deal.
    indyjukebox's avatar
Is that the ear phone case? They tend to pop out in transit. Just need to snap the tray back into the lower half and it should be fine.
  26. tom6195's avatar
    What’s the power capsule?
  27. ht96's avatar
so to clarify. -you can't charge your iphone with this?
    expats's avatar
No, not until they go USB-C (as they are doing from the 15 due to a European directive).
