"Zero Distortion"- hilarious. The whole Soundcore thing is using a DSP to DISTORT the music to bias its tone to a form preferred by a certain type of punter- like a low rent version of Bose. Tribit is the brand that offers flat response. Which means that in blind tests, by people who want a non-distorting speaker, Tribit wins.

And, of course, with a flat response, you are best placed to use an app-side EQ (digital signal processing function) to get the form of distortion that best matches your hearing and taste.

You'd almost think this was only £22.99

Heat added. Whilst I don't own this unit, you can't go wrong with Anker's Soundcore range, and you also have to be realistic about your price point to be fair. The 24h is a winner for sure, plus the discounted price. It will surpass many other manufacturers at anything close to this offered price.

I went for the more expensive Model Number: A3145 instead, however has fantastic sound quality! 12H Playtime, USB-C, IPX7 Waterproof, and also doesn't have the big white ANKER logo on front of the speaker grille.
I read lots of reviews and opted for it instead of this particular unit (Model A3102).

It was on offer on Amazon about 6 weeks ago for £39.99. (normally £58). I'm very happy with it. Yes, just 12h battery in comparison (but those 12 hours are solid and plenty in my opinion) , and I'm really impressed with the overall sound quality, as I said.
When playing it outside, you can hear the clarity and don't miss any mid range or treble, and sound doesn't get clouded by overpowering bass, but the bass is punchy and certainly strong enough. #edit: Plus the EQ is fully customisable via the phone app.

I'm new to the Soundcore range, and you have to consider your budget when purchasing, as to the equivalent comparable quality.

I thought I'd share it with you, as another option to perhaps consider. Link for it here amzn.eu/d/9uK5IOa.
Oh, I've just noticed there may also be a 15% discount available at checkout for Model A3145, but I'm not sure if that's a Prime Member specific discount unfortunately (which could bring it down to £49.29 at checkout).

A lot of stupidness on this thread. Brand snobbery, and dismissiveness.
Some of the Anker range is decent at certain price points, as you can see by watching someone like Oluvs Gadgets (previously Clavinet Junkie). Thank you for your more reasonable assessment and pointers.

I have this speaker, paid £29 at the time. In my view this is well worth the price. It's no where near in quality to Wonderboom or Bose speakers but price is not near either. For the price, this is a pretty decent speaker. I use one as a PC speaker, very happy with it.

Also for similar price level comparison, I also have a Creative Muvo. In my view Anker is superior in terms of power (much much louder) and quality of the sound. (edited)

I think ASTONISHING SOUND is taking it a bit far. In reality, it’s a decent cheap little portable speaker.

What kinda sales would that lead to if they described it with the latter?

These should be a tenner at most. I've had two of them in the past (this one, and the Boost, which is not cheap at all!) and they both suffered from the same issues eventually - a blown speaker and severe distortion even at low level volumes. I won't buy another Anker again.

You've been very unlucky, or you've pushed them too hard.
Either way, Anker's 18 month warranty is very good.

Does anyone know if this is good for pairing with a firestick plugged into a projector? Ty
    Raksingar's avatar
I used exactly this. Canon projector with fire stick and Anker speaker linked to the stick. Worked like a charm for 1.5 years.

Does anyone know if these work while charging please and thanks?
    chrisroberts21's avatar
I can also confirm they work whilst charging however you only ever have to charge once in a blue moon!
Great little speaker z(not only for the price). Speakers twice the price can’t match this for value.

Naff sound, had to return it.

Great little speaker, we use ours loads. Not going to set the world on fire in terms of quality but it just works and it's cheap.

I've now been on two separate trips where others have brought along their Bose or similar branded speaker and everyone had trouble getting their phones to pair with them. Never had a problem with this one.

Being micro usb is the ONLY thing stopping me from getting this
  11. PattyG's avatar
have had one for around 5 years, solid cheap speaker nothing much to add

Please note it is MANDATORY to paint/tippex a W on the front of these before the Anker label. Warranty is invalid if you dont.
  13. Antiville's avatar
Does anyone know how good the microphone is on it please? Was thinking of ordering for teams use to go headset free at work
    daytripper2k's avatar
Used it for teams no complaints. Can't say how good it was but adequate for the purpose.

Years back, I bought a UE Megaboom 1 from John Lewis for an eye-watering £180. It sounds a fair bit better than this. HOWEVER, this has stuff that the original UE didn't:

    - Smaller, lighter
    - Not cylindrical, so you can place it on its side
    - Not £180

In short, tiny bluetooth speakers have replaced the kitchen transistor radio and this is probably the one to get if you aren't too discerning on sound quality.

EDIT: This is non-USB-C version (edited)

red-rock-uk on eBay are selling the megaboom for £89 brand new. I had a discount code that took £20 off. I'm listening to it now as I'm typing this. To say it completely obliterates the Soundcore 2 that I briefly owned is the understatement of the century.

I have this speaker. Spot on for the price. Nothing special but punches above the price tag

Bought my Anker on 14 Feb 2018 and it's still holding it's battery charge and playing well. I don't think being precious about something that is selling today at £23 is important. If you buy one it will serve you well in my opinion.

If I have to charge mine more than every five years, I'm asking for my money back.
