Cool cheap car tracker. Check out the YouTube’s on how to remove the integrated speaker making them much harder to locate.

Only works on old versions, on recently manufactured Airtags it’ll stop the device from working (check the comments on those particular videos), I also discovered this after trying it myself.

I'm an android user myself. Does anyone know if I can set up an online apple account and then use these without an actual iPad/iPhone? Would be useful in the van with all tool thefts. TIA.

Not 100% sure but probably not. Even if you got the AirTags setup and associated with your Apple ID somehow (e.g. used a friend's iPhone temporarily on your Apple ID) then the main web portal for tracking Apple devices (part of the icloud.com website) won't display locations of AirTags. That website will only show locations of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and a few other devices like some headphones. But not your AirTags. (edited)

Has anyone any experience using these with Android? Is there a decent app? Do you get proper details? Can you set them up on a friends Ipad and then get some sort of URL to track them with after that?

Never used them before or really had Mac stuff that much, but the tech on these I hear is great.

It's worth waiting out for the android version to drop, they are working on a similar tech that uses all android devices to report location.

Although for here in the UK, with so many iPhone users, these are probably still the better choice.

I'll tag in to ask if any android users use these, I have a Mac but no iPhone/iPad :/ (edited)

This sort of tech weirds me out as people have used for stalking if you read the news reports.
    iEimis's avatar
AirTags will notify the person if they are being tracked if it's not setup on their device as theirs.

One on each set of car keys. One on dog and one for luggage in hold so when it doesn’t arrive - as happened recently, you can track its lostness. Very useful.
    jamie60509's avatar
Does the one on your dog actually do anything? I have one on my dog, who escaped recently and the airtag was useless! I know they say these are not meant to track pets, but I thought it would do a better job than it did!

Can someone recommend a good replacement battery, please?
    ZwoBOTT's avatar
type CR2032, just any reputable brand, beware of cheap fakes of Amazon
  7. luk.ass's avatar
Question, does it work with android devices or should I look for another tags?
    LordFlashHeart's avatar
Android do their own tags but from what I've read they're not anywhere as good as these.

I bought a couple of these last year and must say they seem to work pretty well…amzn.eu/d/8…RjV
    LordFlashHeart's avatar
From what I've read they use the Apple find my app but don't have the precision track.
  9. philireland1's avatar
Do air tags on last 1 year??? Can they not be re charged
    DVS_Dee's avatar
Change the battery when it runs out.
  10. fzn's avatar
Make sure you change the battery when it tells you to. I didn’t, now it is ironically lost.

I bought 4 put one on the kids key ring, was a saving Grace once when said kod decided to walk down a dark country lane during raid from school with a mate but her battery died, rain went torrential so I checked and managed to find both kids, it’s a good few mins laggy however!

Edit: forgot to mention it also allows me to check if I can play Xbox before the missus gets back also (edited)

These are very good. My friend's car was stolen and they managed to find the tracker installed by the tracking company but we're not able to locate this. You can buy magnetic pouches etc to easily install against metal for example. The police were not interested in this, he had to recover the vehicle himself.
    sulz116's avatar
How did he manage to recover it himself?
  13. ministrymason's avatar
What do people use these for. What are you tracking?
    Andrew_Smart's avatar
Keys, Pets, vehicles, handbags, backpacks, electronics (cameras), literally anything. It's an awesome form of tracking, not requiring monthly SIM payments (edited)
  14. professor78's avatar
Do these come with the divorce papers included?
    dragonfly102's avatar
What are you gonna cook with those trackers?
  15. johnadams2's avatar
Trying to justify buying another 4, 1 in my wallet, 1 on house keys, 1 on dog, 1 on Car keys. Maybe I can chuck one in car in case of theft, likewise with motorbike, one on garage keys... yeah I don't think I can justify it.
  16. DJ.Mole's avatar
So these are crap at tracking pets? Pass
  17. ra11's avatar
Hum - I used these and found they didn’t track until right up close to phone… not sure of range and understand they bounce off of any BT iPhone device in proximity?

Incidentally other apple devices like headphones do the same I think (edited)

    Ordered, thank you.

I'm an android user. I'm curious what do these do?
    swedishmax's avatar
Attached them to things you don’t want to lose and you can track them. Bags, keys, put them on your bike, in your car etc.
  20. MRA4355's avatar
Thanks OP, have been looking for a multipack deal as I’m always misplacing other sets of keys
  21. donmixes85's avatar
I need only one can anyone sell 1??
    LordFlashHeart's avatar
Keep looking on eBay but if you buy used remember:

If you want to use an AirTag that someone else has used, they'll need to remove the AirTag from their Apple ID first. If the previous user removed the AirTag from their Apple ID but they were out of Bluetooth range of the AirTag, then you'll need to reset it before you can use it with your devices
  22. LordFlashHeart's avatar
Great price for Amazon but you can get x4 for £83 off eBay: ebay.co.uk/itm…739

Also if you miss that you can get them for £86: ebay.co.uk/itm…974

Not a huge saving - and you don't get the next day delivery and free returns - but it's a saving for those who aren't too bothered about them being delivered tomorrow.

Anyone fancy going halfers on a set of 4 with me? I only need 2. DM me if you are interested.

I'll just employ someone to watch where I put my stuff for the extortionate cost of these things 🤷‍♂️
    swedishmax's avatar
Not really that expensive, and worth it to protect your belongings. You get what you pay for. But they aren’t for everyone.

Great deal. Recently bought from Argos at £94.
Have tracked my lost luggage left behind at Zurich airport and reached Palermo the next day but airline website didn’t show it for another 2 days.

Are these completely silent and don't let off any "ping" noises? Need to put a tracker in my sons bag when he starts secondary school in September and let him loose on the London transport network!

You can turn off audio within the app
