Retailers are extending their return policies for Christmas: Full List of Shops Extending Returns Policies for Christmas

A Further 5% Cashback from Argos purchases (£99.50) available via Topcashback which would make this effectively £1899.05 (tracks within a few hours)

1,999 Nectar points also available on purchase and 4 months Spotify premium (although I think its for new users only)

This is the upgraded 1TB SSD version now being sold for the same price as the standard 512gb on Argos own site (which is already one of the cheapest prices other than Costco)

Not many in store stock (there are a few) but seem to be lots for click 'n' collect from Sainsburies. Delivery available for £3.95 if required.

By far the cheapest I could find for this model with upgraded SSD even before the 5% cashback and a reputable seller to boot

And Yes... we all know Macs are expensive, but if you're in the market for this spec it seems like a hot deal!

Good deal compared to list price.

Seems to be an increasing number of YouTube reviews questioning the real value of the M2 over the M1 silicon. Maybe in reality more of an incremental leap for most users that aren’t thrashing their systems chucking out 4k videos for YouTube that will use the hardware video encoders.
    Rizzzzzzywow91's avatar
The biggest upgrade is the HDMI 2.1 port, which is useful for professionals. It’s jarring to use an external display that’s 4K 60fps while you’re MacBook display is screen open at 120fps.

Unless you definitely need the additional 488GB of storage or want the 2" of extra diagonal screen size, wouldn't the 14" at £1749 or less be the better option for most?
    Set-Phasers-To-Stun's avatar
It’s well worth going for the 16” if you don’t mind the extra weight. I have this exact model and it’s awesome. The battery lasts longer than the 14” too.

Saw the new Macbooks in the Apple store and couldn't believe they've gone for the 'notch' for the webcam. So annoying for aesthetics I'm surprised Apple did this! Hopefully in future they'll be able to hide it behind the screen in newer models.

I've got one, can't lie once you start using them similar to the iPhone you don't really notice it. They're great machines, so speedy! (edited)

You's would get one hell of a Windows 11 laptop for £1000
Apple hardware is very over priced and for those who need the Poser image.

Windows 11. I needed a good laugh, thanks.

Got this model when the Argos deal was posted here last year. Fantastic machine and should do me for many years.

Great deal! Have some heat! Although I would (obvs) have preferred a 32GB 2023 model, I can't really justify at nearly twice the price of this (£3,749). The 2023 replacement model of this one is also £2,899 (and I'm not sure the extra £900 will give that much benefit). I finally ordered to replace my ageing 2013 Macbook Pro. Can't wait to see the improvement in performance!
    tatoo1's avatar
I did exactly the same last year to replace a 2013 MB Pro. I ended up getting it in Spain for £1850 with the tax back. You won’t regret it. Amazing screen, performance and something that others don’t mention is the sound quality, it’s excellent with lossless and spatial audio.

What is list price of these?

£2599 was RRP from what I can see on reviews that were posted around the launch date.

Argos was selling it for £2299 until recently (edited)

Love the centered trackpad, too many laptop these days have them on left, so annoying.
    d032sh's avatar
Apple patented it so everyone else has to have theirs off-centre. True story. Probably.

The MacBook Air is one of the best tech purchases I have ever made. Light weight , fanless , fast , runs ice cold , battery lasts all day without a struggle and everything just works

Never buying a windows one again! (edited)
    bargainBeast's avatar
My lamborghini aventador is one of the best purchases i made, will wipe the floor with any car on the market, i will never buy a normal car again.... (yes i know it costs 3 times the price) but.... (i don't actually own one btw... i wish!!)

sound familiar. hmm yeah. If you have money to throw away, Mac's are fantastic. People keep comparing mac to windows.... that's like comparing an grape with cauliflower. They both serve different purposes.. windows is an OS, mac is hardware (+ OS). To really compare you would say "I'm never buying a surface pro (with windows), or a Samsung laptop (with windows).

Hardware wise - all "windows" machines are much more powerful in the mac price bracket. Where mac excel however is older hardware with a slick lightweight OS designed to get the best out of the dated hardware. A bit like buying a 5 year old Merc and then getting a Brabus body kit and tuning the engine to perfection to squeeze every last bhp out of it. It will perform superbly (even though its old tech).

The first 3 pin plug socket wasn’t available until the early 1920’s so you must have been running on reserve battery power by then.

Man I want to see a similar deal on the 14"! Specifically M1 Pro, 16GB, 1TB storage, best GPU. Like others said, the size is ideal balance between incredible capability and portability. Therefore, I'd prefer over this 16" (although I'd buy for the right price still - it's all a balance). I'll keep waiting and strike when I see something hit like 1K heat on here and it's a no brainer.

Currently running M1 Macbook Air 8GB / 256GB and absolutely love it. Wish I had more storage. Slickest bit of hardware I've ever owned, the M1 is the highlight with the low temp and battery that lasts forever.

BTW I use Unreal 5 / Adobe AE / Davinci Resolve and fully appreciate 64GB+ RAM /32 cores on the desktop, and yet for all the lighter jobs in between - web dev / coding / documents / getting info I'm on the laptop. Grabbing the 14" is a matter of getting at least 1TB, superior rendering speeds and that fantastic slim bezel XDR display upgrade. Note how I barely care about RAM. 8GB freaking kicks ass in OSX for what I use a laptop for. I don't do heavy motion graphics in Adobe AE on the M1 Air which is the only thing that would make it's 8GB break a sweat. (edited)

This doesn't run OSX it runs macOS. OSX hasn't been used as a name for Apple's desktop OS since 2016 when macOS was released.

You can pair get the same spec laptop from very with a 20% off ‘WELCOME’ code (if you haven’t already used it), combined with topcashback (I don’t remember the exact percentage but I think 7.2%). The MacBook is effectively under £1600.

I rather get the new model, you could get the new 14” with 512gb ssd for about the same, half drive but much better cpu/gpu

From everything I’ve seen if you’re running the latest adobe software to support the M1 it can fly through 4K 60fps footage with no lag in most codecs… lots of YouTube video edit comparisons out there for this model. The M2 doesn’t seem as significant a step up as this was from the intel chip
  26. vale.of.clwyd's avatar
Picked up one of these with 32 gb of ram on ebay. Great screen and performance but wouldn’t want to carry it around a lot. It’s a bit of a lump.
    eek's avatar
Yep - it's why I eventually ended up with the 14" version. The 16" version is just that bit too heavy....

I paid this about a month ago for an Apple Refurbished (which, after much researching, I can confirm was just as good as new!). Great deal.
Those poo poo'ing the price and realising it is M1 generation and not M2 generation need to go and have a loook how much they could get the M2 for haha.
    zapod28's avatar
I bought my current MBP during the Battle of Hast… ha ha, ok so it’s a Late 2013 15” Core i7 bought from the refurb store in 2014 and wipes the floor with the works laptop, a AMD Ryzen 3500 I think.

Will spring for a Apple Silicon model soon, waiting for the 15” Air to be launched before making a decision.

This deal is hot, buyers will get a great laptop that will last for years.
  33. Relievo's avatar
This is the model I got as a refurb (new) form Apple direct.
Doesn't hurt of you have friends or family who work there either 😝

  34. mchcreations's avatar
Unfortunately that is a 9th gen intel (4 gen ago) and things move quick in tech world.

A new i9 or the new m2 have twice the processing power using less energy.

A Core i3-12100 actually performa better in Cinebench R23 multicore according to cpu-monkey.com/en/…0hk

    So no worth it

I love to talk about how the steam deck is the best value for money in gaming/PC space

but for pc owners who are unsure, you can get chimera OS

which is basically a linux steamOS experience you can pop on a usb drive

    chimeraos.org/dow…oad

try it. if you like it (you will, its linux) you should consider a steam deck and a notebook
cheaper than a mac, does more than a mac, doesnt have the terrible OS of a mac
