Classic game, only found out recently that a sequel was made called "Beyond a Steel Sky" in 2020

Also the same developers as Broken Sword series. And Robert Foster makes a brief appearance in Broken Sword 2.

This game has been freeware for longer than GoG has existed.

Great game. Off the top of my head, it came on something like 15 disks for the Amiga.

Yeah that's right! I remember having to swap disks about four times between screens, until getting that massive 340mb harddrive for my A1200.

An excellent dystopian point and click adventure. I remember playing the demo on the Amiga back in the day!

It's been free to download and run in ScummVM for like forever. Not sure what the deal is here? Does GoG add any value?
    rapid111111's avatar
Yes it adds value. Now have it on GOG and Heroic launcher.

Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't get it:
This order can only be gifted as it contains an item you already own.

Yeah, I played a lot of these style of games back in the 90s, the graphics are obviously not on par with what it available not, but the game play is there.
Thankfully a lot of these retro games have made their way onto console platforms - which makes them much easier to access! (edited)

If I had to pick one favourite point-and-click this would be it (with Fate of Atlantic a close second). A genuine classic, and I'm gutted that I don't still have my original Amiga copy in the super cool black box. Still holds up pretty well today unlike some other games of the era.

Sequel was OK but not a patch on this.

Anyone know if it plays well enough on Steamdeck?

I’d have thought so as being an old classic wouldn’t be taxing on any hardware these days
