Kids?! Pfft, I'm buying one for the communal garden, a few retired folks here might enjoy a go! (Obviously after I've tested that it's safe)

Buy a roll of visqueen or similar material for peanuts from a diy store. Make it much longer and wider and the adults can have a go too

    How many peanuts?

I've found these early get torn quite quickly. At this price however, if you get a couple of days use out of them, it's worth it.

Our kids had one of these and it didn't last a couple of weeks, the hose connection part broke after they misjudged a slide and caught it on the way down rendering it useless afterwards.

We replaced it with a simple hard wearing polythene sheet which it think was 12 meters long and cost under £15 and the garden sprinkler we already had, with the benefit that we can use the sheet for a bunch of other purposes around the garden too when the kids aren't sliding around and killing each other.
