Playing the base game right now(which was given away free) and it's seriously good. It's 'more Borderlands' for sure, but the improvements to the mechanics and skill tree progression are extremely significant. It now feels like a modern FPS to play, so the gameplay itself is genuinely a lot of fun with all the crazy weapons and great enemy variety. And there's much more meaningful skill trees now, with more than just one 'main skill' per class, so the actual RPG build side is much better as well.

I just bought the Super Deluxe Edition, which is the first time I've given any money to Epic, but £9 for all the major expansion campaigns was too hard to pass up. Didn't think the 2nd Season Pass stuff seemed worth it, personally. Obviously for an extra £7, it's still pretty cheap, but an extra skill tree is pretty much the only thing that'd matter to me and I just genuinely dont think I need it, since there's already plenty to explore with the existing ones.

I ended up turning voices down cause I got sick of hearing the Twitch twins.

Fun for coop, but the atrocious writing ruins single player.

I've seen people say this, but I really dont understand how the writing is any worse than in Borderlands 2. It's all the exact same sort of schtick, executed pretty much exactly the same. If anything, I might even argue it's less cringey than BL2(Tiny Tina is just the most annoying character) and more comparable with BL1, but it's all basically the same thing in the end.

And saying it 'ruins' the game is also weird to me. It's like arguing Diablo's barebones story ruins it. That's just not why people play these sorts of games.

I mean, Tiny Tina's DLC in BL2 is one of the greatest DLC's ever made and just so good, despite Tiny Tina herself being extremely obnoxious. (edited)
