Opinions on buying refurbished welcome, but at this price and with the same two-year Bose warranty as new, this seems a good deal for a great portable speaker

Looks a great deal for the price as its nearly twice this from most online outlets such as Amazon and John Lewis. And very well reviewed too - great sound and strong battery life which are probably the most relevant features.
With other devices I have experience of the devil-in-the-detail is how well relevant apps work to control it. Many devices are consigned to history if the controlling app is unreliable or user unfriendly. One would think a specialist like Bose would ensure its 'Bose Connect' App does the business but I have no idea... have others? The (very few) negative reviews say things like 'I have downloaded the Bose app and still cannot connect', 'Bluetooth as is unstable and will disconnect...' but it does seem rare - most really like it!
It also has BOSE SIMPLESYNC TECHNOLOGY for those with compatible Bose products - love to hear if this is good, as otherwise Sonos seems to have this sector rather sewn up and one might be better putting the money into a Sonos 1/Move/Roam.... so as to add to it flexibly later.

Note on this - I received it but sent it straight back, for one reason: it has a USB-B rather than -C port. Might seem a minor issue, but having to switch between cables for different devices and take two cables on trips is an unnecessary pain. Surprisingly outdated for a high-end device.
