There was a deal on this same watch the other day but on the leather strap. I bought it hoping to get the ETA 2824 movement, but it turned out to be a Powermatic 80, which i already have in a Tissot PRX. I've returned that one, but hoping this one is the ETA. It is an earlier SKU in case that makes any odds (crt007 vs crt003). Fingers crossed as the watch face, quality etc is outstanding (edited)

50346590-TsDWB.jpgIt says it's an ETA, so fingers crossed, and can be returned if not.

Waste of money. My F-91W tells them time even better than this...

...not that that's ever stopped me from buying watches I don't need

I agree Tony, my phone keeps excellent time, but sadly isn't as nice to look at as this. Think I might have a problem though as I seem to be buying a new watch every bloody month at the moment 😳

Still wearing my grandad Certina. Keeps perfect time, must be 80yrs or so old. It's the same 5 o'clock somewhere.

Reckon? Hope not! Though nothing wrong with that movement, just have my heart set on an ETA

Googling the model number listed in the url shows: watchbase.com/cer…700

    ETA Movement

Yeah, the issue is that if the same model watch is made with an alternate movement, that can pose an issue to demanding collectors when buying from these big firms on 'to order' listings.

It can mean they've cleared the old stock out but by the strength of their relationship with the brands in question are authorised to 'pre-sell' or 'sell to order' a newer revision of a watch subject to the latest manufacturer update.

I ordered an "old stock" Michel Herbelin Cap Camarat a year ago on the same 'to order' basis and waited a few weeks and got shipped a new stock "Herbelin" branded revision, which was, to be fair, very pleasing to me and posed nothing but a cosmetic change.

Jura/Sellors/Hamond group have this quite a lot with Certina particularly.

It's great... it keeps bargains coming without relying on old stock availability.

Nice watch! But don't have the money, unless someone wants to gift it to me

Absolutely horrible company to deal with.

Bought my wife the Oris deal which claimed next day delivery a week went by still no watch so phoned and was told oh Oris ship them without boxes or cards so that’s the delay you can have it in a plain box . Only when Oris stepped in did I receive the watch and a promise that in 3 months time the watch winder will follow won’t hold my breath. They have a script to say on the phone to delay sending anything as they sell watches that aren’t physically in stock

That sounds like an awful experience! My own experience with the previous watch deal has been stellar. Their customer support admitted the web listing was incorrect regarding the ETA movement, offfered and immediately provided a prenpaid return to my email. I did get the same agent, by chance, both times i rang them and working in IT myself I know that the CS experience is entirely down to who you're talking to.
I'm not a fan of consignment selling and was assured this Certina is sitting in a branch.
If I'd the experience you described, i also wouldn't go back to them.

Just wondering if you've received the watch? I took advantage of this deal - the watch addiction is beginning to kick in after purchasing an Orient a few months ago (uh). But i believe it's being made to order. Appreciate you might not fully know the ins and outs of this particular instance but do you know if I'll be waiting a while for this if that's the case? CS wasn't the most helpful....

I've been in touch with them a few times and they find me the same, they have assured me though that they have specified the ETA movement i want on the order from Certina and that it has beem accepted as such. So we'll see, won't be a good look on them if it's not the ETA, but at this point i probably return or sell on most watches i order... Addiction started for me with an Orient Bambino, my current daily is a rather nice Orient Kamasu II in teal

Did it actually come with an ETA? They told me they'd had to get the watch directly from Certina, and I rang them several times to ensure they had ETA specificied on the order. I got the Powermatic...
