Ref. NY0125-08W

I thought it was a bronze Citizen, but it's not, it's rose gold. It's not a spec monster either, it has mineral glass & a basic movement, but also not a bad price for a decent looking & reliable entry level auto which is ISO Divers compliant (which can't be said of a modern Rolex Sub date ). 8204 rotor can be a tad noisy as it runs freely & the watch itself is fairly thick at 13.7mm (see review below). The second hand on the 8204 movement hacks so you can set the time accurately.

Note: Citizen UK & H Samuel list the case width as 45mm, so I checked Citizen Japan which lists it at 41mm & I believe this to be correct.

Unless I'm mistaken, this JOMW review (
) is the same NY0125 base model, except a different colourway & the one I am posting is on a rubber strap, not a bracelet. There are wrist shots of the watch on the reviewers roughly average sized 7"/18cm wrist towards the end of the review.

Spec taken from Citizen Japan:

Caliber No: 8204 Automatic (3Hz, hacks, handwinds)
Accuracy: -20 to +40 sec/day
Power Reserve: 40 hours

Case Width: 41.0mm
Lug width: 20mm

Case material: Stainless steel
Dial colour: brown:
Band material: Urethane

HSamuel have so many watches that look similar to better spec versions but seem to cut corners in every way. These versions can only ever be found at HSamuel, like they commission them specifically to sell to customers that don't know any better.

As for this watch, I'm really not a fan of the ruffled straps Diver watches often come with. What's with that? (edited)

It allows extra 'stretch' so it can be fastened tighter on top of the neoprene sleeve when diving 🤿

I think the H Samuel spec is wrong. See "Note" in the description. (edited)

First pic it looks an absolute belter but the others I'm disappointed

Nice price if your in the market for one and you like the look of it. If be changing the strap immediately (edited)

And Watchgecko often have one or other of their many straps on markdown.

Can’t see any on sale at the moment but I believe their “Italian” ones may be made by Bonetto Cinturini.

Alas, no bargains in 20mm to be had today. (edited)

This watch doesn't look good at all. It looks more Bronze than rose gold

Haha, goes to show, can't stand rose gold & so I appreciate that this looks closer to bronze. Still don't own bronze, but have a bronze Baltic Aquascaphe with brown dial lined up. Does occur to me maybe that's why this watch caught my attention.

I have bought this 2 weeks ago. Love it, looks more expensive than the price. If my eyes are correct, it looks more bronze than rose gold

yeah its a brown PVD finish IMO. great value for £140 don't understand why people say its too big, measures 40 across. Would of liked sapphire crystal for a japan only promaster model, but can live with mineral crystal at this price point.

I thought it looked like bronze at first, too!

this was £140 plus the extra 10% day and the save25 code, I picked it up.. at that price its a nice deal. dunno how long the bronze/rose gold coating will last though.. nice cheap alternative to the titanium barnacle model.. (edited)

Beautiful watch but I think it’s too chunky for me sadly!

nice looking watch but the accuracy is shocking, even for a cheap automatic watch.

I would agree except I own & have owned a number of watches at this level that don't come close to stated tolerances like this.

Not sure why they offer up such a broad tolerance range, I assume it's for protection in case of a poor performing batch or something.

My experience is that movements like this (that aren't several years old & in need of a service) run roughly 5-12 seconds a day out. I can't think of one I have owned, past or present, performing worse than that & there are probably a couple that run better. Most entry level movements can even be regulated or even adjusted for optimum performance if desired. (edited)
