watered down mess now. We've gone through shrinkflation, we've gone through inflation and now we're going through waterization.

This is a real thing, people need to get wise to it.
It's happening all over with wine and beer.
They wouldn't get away with shrunken wine bottles or beer cans, so it's waterization instead.

I use white vinegar now instead of conditioner. Google it. There’s only a hint of a vinegar smell straight out of the machine, but it’s gone before they’re dry.

5l of vinegar only costs a couple of quid and you only need a third of a cup for a full wash.

Can you please explain how you do this? As far as I understand, vinegar will damage the washing machine. Do you water it down?

I agree that this is extremely watery now.

Does anyone know of a brand which isn't thin and watery?

Vinegar will wreck the rubber seals

No it doesn't. 5% acetic acid diluted with many litres of water makes no difference. Whether it provides any benefit beyond a psychological one is more important.

That said, vinegar does work well as a rinse aid when then quantities of water used are much smaller.
