Crucial X6 1TB Portable SSD - Up to 800MB/s - PC and Mac - USB 3.2 USB-C External Solid State Drive

Added by @cyberbabenilorac

  • HUGE CAPACITY
  • FAST: Read speeds up to 800MB/s – that's 5.6x faster than most hard drives
  • TINY, LIGHTWEIGHT: Fits between your fingertips and weighs less than your car keys
  • BROAD COMPATIBILITY: Works with PC, Mac, Android, iPad Pro (PS4, Xbox One, and USB-A computer require USB-A adapter, available separately)
  • RELIABLE AND DURABLE: Backed by Micron, one of the largest manufacturers of flash storage in the world

1. Some of the storage capacity is used for formatting and other purposes and is not available for data storage. 1GB equals 1 billion bytes. Not all capacities available at initial launch.

2. Up to 6.5ft/2 m without impact to data on drive on a carpeted floor.

3. Compatibility may vary and may be contingent on device formatting and host capabilities.

4. MB/s speed measured as maximum sequential performance of device as measured by Crucial on a high-performance desktop computer with Crystal Disk Mark (version 6.0.2 for x64). Your performance may vary. Comparative speed claims measured as maximum sequential performance of similarly situated portable SSDs, mainstream portable HDDs and mainstream USB flash drives from vertically-integrated manufacturers selling under their own brands as of June 2019.

DRAM-less (usual for an external), but QLC NAND.

Better off getting a decent SSD (SATA or NVMe) and putting it in an enclosure.
Cheaper for SATA, maybe around the same price for NVMe.

Obviously SATA would be a bit chunkier so not as pocketable as this, NVMe not so much. (edited)

    The Pro's, the Con's, huh?

    Hehehehehehe.

The X8, which is faster, is only £6 more. I think that's a better deal, but I voted hot on this.

Still DRAM-less QLC though (I really don't like Crucial's QLC drives, lol).
    Fine for most people.

Bought this a few weeks ago to store PC games on. Amazing how smol it is compared to my 5yr old external HD.

Got a 2TB one of these last year on a misprice for £80, couldn’t be happier with it. Though as other commenters have said the X8 is a better deal at the moment

Could you comment on the write speed please? Does it do the job?

This was an interesting watch for sustained writes from a camera directly to the SSD. X6 appears to best one of the best recommendations. Not a use case I would use it for, but interesting nonetheless. youtu.be/isY…OTQ

Why do these still only quite Read speeds. As a minimum we need write speeds as well
