In no way is this heavy duty

I have both the one I’m linking below and the one in this deal. I’d say this deal is light duty and the one below medium

You'd be better off with the Ikea Hejne

They should consider these for storing all the gold plated polystyrene at Fort Knox

    5 shelves @ 175KG per shelf = 825KG per rack

Not far off a TON per rack ...

I always look at the 1 star reviews on Amazon first. 10% for this item.

Not sold by Amazon either, so customer service accordingly. (edited)

Put some wood protector on the boards, they go mouldy otherwise.

Thanks OP. But I would not trust the words "heavy duty" in any advertising.

The weight claims are likely based on distribution across the whole shelf, including the supporting sides, where physics is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, rather than strength of the material itself.

Regardless, not many of us are going to store 175 kg of anything per shelf. We mostly just need to store the crap we've bought via Hukd, in boxes we've bought via Hukd, on the shelves we've bought on Hukd. I suppose most of us didn't get our house on here?

As someone who built 6 of these last weekend, I can say that the shelves are incredibly thin, you'll need a mallet, and assembling the beams takes a lot of precision as the metal hooks like to bend. However, they seem to do the job and they don't look too bad.

These are cheap for a reason, I've used em before and lets just say, you get what you pay for.

Would you say the MDF boards are the main weak point? Plus, the boards need some protective treatment don't they?

I have three of these in blue, whilst they aren't from this seller, they look identical in structure, they've been up a week or so and shelves are full, at most about 30-40kg each shelf and they seem to be holding fine with no wobble or issues. The MDF does seem thin but seems to be fine for what I have on them, the only gripe I have is that there is a horrible fishy type solvent smell from the MDF boards which even after a week hasn't gone, despite airing by keeping windows and doors open.

Come back to us in March. I suspect most items will be on the floor of the structure.

Look and feel weak but can hold some weight. I have 2 of these for the tools and wrenches, they are ok

This is an excellent offer. I am using two of these racks. Very wobbly to assemble and require more than one person. Good for boxes up to 10 kg and best if placed close to wall. Shelve boards are flimsy, but do the job. Replacement us cheap from B&Q, once required.

I’ve got 2 of these types of shelves in the garage and have done for 5 yrs or so. If you secure against a wall they are absolutely fine and can hold tins of paint/power tools etc. The current price isn’t exactly a bargain though when you look at Camel

I'll paint the metal and use these as book shelves for my uni books? Will they hold.

As long as the subjects are not heavy going
  15. g00ner82's avatar
Surely can’t do 175k per shelf ? They would bend/break
  16. jinkssick's avatar
Can anyone recommend a metal structure but with plastic shelves so they wont bend in UKs weather?!
  17. Jamie_M's avatar
Flimsy, be very careful not to buckle them during assembly, wobbly and the shelves go mouldy.

    Cheap but noticably so.

You'll need a mallet. And you'll need a medium tipped flat bladed screwdriver. Where the "teeth" fit in the slots, you'd be wise to bend out the slots first, else the "teeth" tend to overlap, making the shelves less strong. And buy a sheet of Osb for the shelves, the mdf is 5mm, and absorbs damp like a sponge.
