The ferry to France is a nicer experience I find with the kids (taking kids on planes I find is a head doer). I used dfds a few times and the ferries are clean and tidy..and allow the kids to run around at will.
Onky downside is getting to Calais on the way back which resembles Jerusalem from world war z...just look at what is on the other side of the fences

Prices for wine and other stuff is ridiculous in France
    Just returned from there.
Wine is same price or even higher than in UK
So what’s the point than for day trip?

The change of scenery is a good reason. Exchange rate is poor at the moment. Thanks Boris!

Hardly worth the bother for two hours in France

You can change the time, go like 9am and come back 9pm.

£55 for a weekend crossing, but much better than the £140 or so P&O quoted me last year for a day trip!

I have wanted to use DfDS but could not get the times we wanted.
P&0 have a similar offer at the moment. We made the crossing 27 Dec 2022 with P&O for £39 same day return. I believe the offer is running till the end of March 2023.

I have got one free day trip already. Just wondering if i buy this one for a week ahead and only use return of this deal so I can use my free day trip departure and i can ignore using it's return. So I will be using a new daytrip deals return to stay there a week in france and it would only cost me 39gbp for a week trip. Any of you has used them with this scenario?

Or could you pay for one way, and then spend say a week in France and then buy a return at a similar price?

That might work. Think they'd charge you more for a single ticket.

Return trip with 20 passengers in the boot.

Always annoying when this is 1 car but only 4 people.
I have a 6 person family, but we only have 1 car (a 7 seater).

    Hi,

Same here - at least 5 of us which makes this a pain. What is their policy with regards to kids under 10 - are they classified as adults or can they just tag along - say 3 Adults & 2 kids?

    Thanks!

I have some friends coming over from EU. Can I buy return and they show up only on "return" ? (Some airlines don't allow to use the return ticket if you don't show up for the original flight... maybe they have same rules or something.)

It's not like you have to go to their DFDS shop right? You could drive out and go somewhere else in France?
