It's a shame ddr5 is rock bottom yet am5 and ddr5 mobos for intel are expensive af (edited)

I dont think theyre too expensive, my old mobos set me back £485 9th gen, and £300 10th gen

    I just got a Z790 for about £450ish for 13th gen

You WANT DDR5, yet you'd buy crummy 8GB sticks- where's the sense in that. Computers still hate FOUR sticks. You want the performance you've paid for, you use only two sticks.

Today, get 2 x 16GB of really good stuff, or 2 x 32GB of more affordable memory. If your budget is that tight, you should be building a DDR4 system anyway, and saving a fortune on the MB and CPU.

Generally you're completely incorrect plus 4 sticks will run at lower temps than 2 of the same total memory so you'll see an increase in performance under heavy loads
