I added these to the order

Dell USB-C TO USB-C displays cable, 0.6 meter

to take it over £300. That way I got another £60 off using the PayPal offer on my Amex Platinum Business card! Total bargain for me. (edited)

Check your amex card as I did the same but they are currently showing as 2 separate pending transactions rather than 1 transaction over £300???

Had to pull the trigger on this. Doesn’t hit all my requirements, but usb-c ultra wide was my primary requirements.Bit of a bargain.

didn’t know my company were set up, tried my luck entering my work address and a personal one and got the discount email.

    heat!

p.s 5.95% cash back via tcb as well (edited)

This! I can't fathom why most wide screens lacks usb-c for charging and display.

I'm using mine now. Coming from a 4k IPS. The screen is great for productivity - I have my video conference in one half and work documents in the other half. The colours are more muted than the IPS and blacks are grey rather than black.

I'm on my second connection cable. My graphics card only has mini displayport or mini HDMI connectors and so I bought a mini dp => HDMI cable. The screen worked fine for 15 minutes and then blacked out with no signal. The cable was warm to the touch and after it cooled down, the screen worked again, but only for another 15 minutes. I've replaced it with a different mini dp => HDMI cable and it seems to be working OK at the moment but I did have a 5 minute blackout earlier in the day with the new cable. UPDATE: The 2nd mini DP =>HDMI cable is now exhibiting the same problem as the first. It seems to occur when I am placing more strain on the graphics and the whole signal then gets lost. I have a mini HDMI => HDMI cable on order and will see if that is more stable.

It also seems that none of the cables I can use will offer me more than 60hz refresh rate with my GTX 980 card. Not a problem as I'm not a big gamer but could be a consideration for others. If I can't get a stable cable connection, I may need to return the monitor.

UPDATE: The micro HDMI => HDMI cable sorted my problems and also gave me 100hz. The colours are also less muted with the new cable and Black's are black. (edited)

Hmm, I have just discovered my laptop only goes to 3200*1800 resolution, so, I guess it might not play very well with this monitor :/

It depends somewhat on how you're planning to use it. I'm assuming you're wanting the monitor to be an extension of your laptop's screen, rather than mirroring both to show the exact same thing. If you were to do the latter then you would get some funky stuff going on with the laptop and monitor trying to find a resolution that they can both run at. And chances are both will look pretty bad outside of their native resolution.

In the case of the display extension, it will simply show the laptop's resolution natively and the monitor's resolution natively and everything will look as expected. You can set the monitor to be your main display when plugged into the laptop and use the laptop's display as a secondary. That would be my preference with that setup.

You can also set it up so the laptop display shuts off when plugged into the monitor and you have just the ultrawide. This is less practical if you're doing normal web browsing / administrative tasks where it isn't difficult to drive the second monitor. However, with just the ultrawide on and the less amount of pixels compared to the laptop's native resolution, it would be easier for a graphics card to drive, if you wanted to do a bit of gaming. What are the speakers like on this?
    Lowtrawler's avatar
If you read the review linked in the post, they are fine for MS Teams but not up to Movies / TV. Luckily it has a speaker out port. (edited)

So I am split between this and s3422dwg. I mainly do programming and plan to play MS flight sim. Is the the lower (100hz) refresh rate and slower response going to make the difference?

I'm specially interested in the USB C and KVM aspects of this monitor as I have multiple computers.

If you absolutely require the extra 44 hz for gaming purposes then get the dwg, otherwise I’d recommend this as the usb-c and kvm are no brainers (edited)

I bought this the week it was launched in April for £386. Absolutely worth it at this price especially for its PiP/PbP feature for connecting two laptops concurrently (49 inches wide would have offered the equivalent of two 27 inches monitors experience but this is a decent compromise at this price). The speakers are great for Teams calls and I also watch a lot of Netflix on this as I prefer the anti-glare on this vs a shiny TV screen. Great for 21:9 wide-screen movies as it fills the screen but will have an unused screen space on either side for most of the web-series. Happy to answer any questions. (edited)

Can it act as a USB Hub? Could I connect a wired mouse to it and be able to control my laptop

I bought a curved Samsung 34” UW in 2019 & it’s been great since. For those on the fence about use case, make the plunge. Like many I always had dual monitors at work however they switched to 38” UW so thought I would mirror at home, almost. Then the irony of Covid meant I spent 2yrs explaining my resolution! But for screen sharing to others on UW it’s a game changer, being able to answer a question in the middle of a presentation by having the ppt on one side & the excel underpinning on the other is so powerful.

As said the only downside is the resolution for those paupers who haven’t made the jump. On the upside it looks great on your desk!

Mine arrived today. It looks like a decent monitor on initial views. Need to play around with the colours, but coming from an ips im a bit disappointed, but given the cost, size and usb-c connection I can’t really grumble and it’s still excellent value. Couldn’t quite stretch to an equivalent ips (not many around) at double the cost (edited)

Warmed to it a bit more and it’s definitely a bargain. Just isn’t as vibrant as my old IPs monitor and compared to my laptop screen the colours look fuller no matter what I do. Maybe a limitation of VA.It’s far better than the cheaper va panels I’ve seen in curry’s though.

the usb-c and kvm is awesome. Got a usb hub in the back so got my mouse, keyboard and a usb light all plugged in there fine.

Perhaps a silly question, but if you have a dell docking station with hdmi and display port, could you use both of those outputs for dual monitors, whilst connecting go the laptop with USB c?

I only remember dual monitors in my office on dedicated base units eith graphics cards eith dual outputs, but I'm sure the devs with dual monitor and laptop setup would have done it this way!
    CampGareth's avatar
I cannot answer because dell made a lot of different docking stations with different capabilities. If you have the right dock and laptop then yes you can plug a single USB C cable into your laptop and output to dual monitors from the dock while charging your laptop and using some USB peripherals plugged into the dock. It's pretty great. (edited)

I work for an organisation that is in the Dell Advantage program and have entered my email address to get the code but no email received. Anyone else experiencing delays in getting the discount voucher?

I'm keen to place an order but can't seem to get the voucher code. Can anyone PM me with a code, much appreciated. (edited)

Got mine yesterday and been having a problem where I cant seem to connect my macbook to the monitor as an external display. I use the usb-c to usb-c cable in the box to connect the two and the macbook charges but doesn't send a signal to the monitor. I've tried all ports but still no luck. Never had this issue before with my previous usb-c monitor. Anyone know what could be causing the issue? Hope its just a problem with the cable although it seems to be charging the laptop just fine
    Narrowboy's avatar
Have you tried another usb-c device like a phone or a laptop? There are a number of usb-c settings on the monitor. I’d try a factory reset as well
