Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

GAME DESCRIPTION
The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control.

Key Features:

Real role-playing from an immersive 3D, first-person perspective. The game includes action, character interaction and problem solving.
Realistic, recognizable locations. Many of the locations are built from actual blueprints of real places set in a near future scenario.
A game filled with people rather than monsters. This creates empathy with the game characters and enhances the realism of the game world.
Rich character development systems: Skills, augmentations, weapon and item selections and multiple solutions to problems ensure that no two players will end the game with similar characters.
Multiple solutions to problems and character development choices ensure a varied game experience. Talk, fight or use skills to get past obstacles as the game adapts itself to your style of play.
Strong storyline: Built on "real" conspiracy theories, current events and expected advancements in technology. If it's in the game, someone, somewhere believes

The best PC game of all time. You can get the Deus Ex Revision mod for it, completely free, on Steam. It updates it and adds tonnes of optional features. As a hardcore Deus Ex fan I would highly recommend the mod. If you're worried it may be dated then this will sort you right out

Sadly just upgrading the graphics isn't enough. While I still believe this is probably the best game ever made, the lack of awareness by the bad guys rather spoils it. They don't seem to notice their mates dropping around them, or the number of dead bodies on the ground. And if they spot you, it should take more than 30 seconds of crouching behind an obstacle for them to go back to care-free patrolling.

This has to get a remaster, absolutely love the game but it's a little dated in it's mechanics now. Heat added

My favourite game ever, the newer games didn't really come close to capturing the sense of freedom and consequences to your actions as this game did. Would love a remake. People would probably think the conspiracies discussed in the game were based on recent events too much though! (edited)

Logged in to GMG and this was only 40p for some reason, thanks!

One the best PC games ever made and all magazines usually concur and have it near the top of their list but graphics are very dated now. It needs a remastered version

Use revision mod. It helps a little. I agree though. Maybe an RTX mod would be amazing too.

I've been playing it for the last couple of weeks. (I've just recovered a sword from Majestic 12 operative to stop Hong Kong triad's war). Really enjoying the game. Story is good , so is level design. Took me some time but now I'm enjoying the game thoroughly, even without installing any mods

Purchased, thanks OP! Also got Thief Gold - never played the first Deux Ex but I did play Mankind divided and that was awesome. What a time to be alive.

Thief Gold is another stone cold classic.

Not as good as Thief 2: The Metal Age, mind.

That, IMO, is the best game of all time.

Anyone who says different is a lily-livered taffer.
