I have this sander. Paid about this price for it a few years ago (and think it might have been discounted at the time) so bearing in mind how the price of everything has gone up recently, I suspect this is a good price for it.

I've been very happy with it. Haven't ever felt I needed to use two hands even on its highest speed, but that might depend how strong your hands are and whether you're using it for prolonged periods of course.

One thing I don't like about it though is the connection for vacuum hose. It's a proprietary DeWalt connector, which I'm sure is great if you've already got expensive DeWalt hoses with the appropriate connector and all your other tools are DeWalt using the same connectors. But it's a bit of a pain to connect up to a standard vacuum cleaner or shop vac hose.

The genuine DeWalt adapters for doing this are quite expensive. Though if you've got a 3d printer models are available online (thingiverse type sites) for making your own, or you can buy various ready made (but sometimes quite basic) alternatives on Etsy, eBay and probably elsewhere. YouTube has a couple of videos for making them with a pvc pipe and heat gun. Or you may be able to butcher the dust collection bag that comes with it and use the adapter from that somehow.

Since I don't use it that often I just gaffer tape the hose to it then remove it when finished.

But if you're planning to use it often and will want to swap the hose between it and other tools regularly you might want to check the price of those adapters if you think you need one as that'll bump the price up considerably (unless they've come down a lot in price size I looked). (edited)

Mine has the proprietary DeWalt dust outlet, but my Karcher shop vac hose tip fits inside it snugly enough.

Hi would the ergonomics be ok holding this sander for a period of time sanding a fence?

I’m thinking an additional hand support for two hands would be better than this, as it seems to be for one hand (edited)

Random orbit sanders require far less effort than old sanders to maneuver, keep in place and overall work the stock, which is why many of them are one hand operation.

Are these as good as the superior Makitas?
