    What is this strange object?

Lets you lift door as you align hinges.

Why would anyone get one of these when you can just use a long chisel pivoting on top of a hammer that lets the door slide around uncontrollably as soon as the chisel takes any weight?

    Bought!

Always used a wedge before, didnt know these were a thing. I'll give it a try for £4. Ordered, thanks.

You can adjust the height of the door quite accurately with your foot with these, the trick is putting it in the right position so that the door is balanced. I've also used one to position 8" x 4" drywall sheets whilst screwing to a timber frame.

Prefer air pump wedges for doors. No chance of door slipping out and damaging the door

Yep, I find these very useful - also for lifting heavy wardrobes to set on wheels for moving.

I found this useful when dot and dabbing plasterboard, can push board tight to ceiling and wedge underneath easier

I don’t think I have any use for this but have bought to throw in the cupboard just in case.

Thanks. Sort of thing never could justify for occasional use but at £4 couldn't say no.

Order last one in Wigan, no doubt will get cancelled/refunded when they can't find it for C&C

I normally just use my steel toe boots wedged under the door and align the hinges. Only problem is all my doors have a 5" gap underneath them.

Great deal if you can find one nearby - no local stock close to me unfortunately, but seems to be plenty elsewhere
