Ok I haven’t looked at pre pay in a long time but this seems horribly expensive. I have a rolling contract and pay £17.50 a month for 5G 160GB which includes unlimited calls & texts. £50 just for 120GB of data seems a rip off.

I think you have misunderstood this deal -

for example - If you have a dual sim phone, this would be ideal when used in conjunction with a Sky Mobile sim (£1.50 pm for unlimited calls and texts). Equates to £5.66pm for an average of 10GB of EE data a month and u/l calls and texts

You can use this in any router and get WiFi signal's - say in your Carvan / holiday home

Can be used in Uber app for taxi people which requires data and so on.
Plenty other uses to be honest
    Thank you

I just got the 100GB sim from amazon which is slightly better value at £30.

You are comparing a 1 month deal to a 12 month deal - both are decent, but this one is unbeatable for what it is.

You can always make a call to a mobile phone using data via WhatsApp.
Shame that BT withdrew their Smart Talk app a few years back, allowing you to route for free your mobile calls anywhere in the world through your home line. (edited)

"You can always make a call to a mobile phone using data via WhatsApp"

That is not totally true - many scenarios:

The other mobile cannot run WA, user is not signed up, user has no data, user has data turned off, etc.

WA is brilliant (especially to kill off overpriced MMS), but it isn't a replacement for mobile calls (which of course can be made to landlines too).

I have this in our caravan and use with a tp link 4g router. We are only there on weekends and school holidays so lasts a while. Just remember if using for Disney and netflix alter your streaming quality or it will drain your data

Isn’t this the standard price that you can get anywhere?

Not allowed to post as a deal, but fine in comments - this is RRP, so not a deal (under HUKD rules) I thought.

It is a cracking price for EE. For just over £200 on Amazon you can get a 20 odd months unlimited (600GB/mth FUP) EE SIM. Not even allowed to link to that one.

UPDATE: Seems it is out of stock anyhow - been a brilliant deal - used it as our home BB since April. (edited)

How long would 120gb last for general Web browsing and sending a few emails few times a month? I am thinking this would be cost effective for my parents over a broadband contract
    Tutanota's avatar
    Tutanota
It would probably be overkill. Browsing web 100mb per day (generous) + 10mb emails daily (again generous) is 110mb daily, 3gb per month or 36gb in a year.

If that is truly what your parents use internet for them it's perfectly adequate with a lot to spare. If they do video calls or consume media this estimation of data use changes a lot

The best valuable sim in terms of price/data ratio was the Tesco mobile 100gb sim for £20 IF bought with Clubcard, which I bought for my pan European trip by car (5000 km in 2 weeks). Also their 50gb for £15 as well. All data usable in roaming and faultless. But the promo might have gone by now.

I have this and although it’s a good deal, the sim expires after 3 month due to inactivity (according to EE a sim is deemed inactive if no top up or calls for 3 months) and I have to ring EE to reactivate the sim. I mean EE why would I top up if the sim is supposed to last a year and how can I make a call from a data sim! But if you don’t mind ringing EE every 3 months it’s a good deal.

Yeah that's a bit silly then, presumably when you called them they didn't offer any explanation, tbh it's not something I currently need but if for example you purchased one to occasionally take to a caravan then that would be quite annoying when you found out it didn't work as intended.

Does anybody know if this could be used to get 10 months Big Screen & BT Ultimate for £15 a month via EE? Or if not, if there’s a cheaper way to do it?

I don’t really need the EE sim, as am with £1.99 a month Lebara

…..but I’d like to get access to 4k BT Sport on my TV for the cheapest way possible

Exactly. Not bad idea compared to other offers where you have only 1 month. For example I have bought from amazon the sim card with 16GB from Three network for £10, but it is only for 30 days. There was also an offer of 30GB for £12 where data/price rate is better than this offer from EE, but again, it is not a year and very likely I am not expecting to use all in one month.

Not a bad deal but for £7.95 a month you can get Lebara 21gb unlimited texts minutes.
So for £45 you get 126gb data. Renew, change, cancel whenever.

Have to agree - fair comparison would be 12GB for £6.90.

    So £82.80 per year.

120GB / 12 is 10GB per month average. £4.16 per month for 10GB a month. Of course you could use the 120GB in the first month or hardly use any of it at all or use it in the last month. Up to you.

Question Smarty have a 50GB data only SIM card costing more per month than a phone SIM card with 50GB data, free calls and free text. Both just monthly contracts.

I used the online messaging system, the sales rep assured me there were no speed limits on the phone sim. It seems the norm for data only to be more expensive, what am I missing please
    fishmaster's avatar

Contracts keep you longer as a customer and rise with inflation, contracts naturally give you more for your money because of this.

Im switching to a 24 month contract for EE for their 4g network,it will take a while for 5g to be widespread,EE's 4g network is much better than anyone elses and their speeds are a little more stable at that too.Ill be paying 23 pound a month with unlimited data,no doubt it will jump up in a year but I need the speeds.

I need a data SIM or any sim with data for a new laptop , I have 160gb with EE on contract, is there anyway to share that data, not hotspot, just want to open the laptop and have connection ,
Is EE family share a good option ? Is it possible to do that with a pay as you go EE sim if on my account or it has to be data ?

Is there any very very cheap Data SIM options I don't need more than 2-3gb

I have the three 24gb 24 months sim......these SIM are useful in a twin SIM setup as backup data but now Lyca and Lebara are locked into a price war I'd be going down that route... Have Lebara in one side and three in the other at the minute....cold from me sorry

On Amazon If you search for EE data SIM there is a product called "EE 5G Unlimited Data Sim - Preloaded each month from now until 8th JUNE 2024 - Works out around £10.50 per month - No Contract & One-off payment - Perfect for Wifi Routers, Tablets & Phones"

This is just £10.50 per month for around 23 months of data which seems like a much better deal to me.
