Cheers Sunshine7x, just ordered from Toolstation and you're right it's the same model with the free battery & charger and free next day delivery, only difference is that it only charged me £44.98, I was trying different codes but I didn't think any had been accepted still an even better bargain at that price. Wouldn't have even tried if you hadn't posted the link

Question to anyone with strimmer experience. We have had a couple and the cord always just snaps within seconds of using it. Really want something that lasts. Am I just using it in the wrong way as in hitting rocks/concrete for too long behind grass and it snaps? I started using it in a pulsing manner which seemed to allow me to cut more without breaking the cord. Any tips would be great and advice on a durable brand strimmer. Cheers.

I got rid of a string one where would snap 10 times doing my tiny garden once.

This one the first plastic blade lasted me like 3 months and I bash it into things. And comes with a bunch of spare ones.

Got this a while ago but a lot of our garden has brick wall edges and the blades don't last too long against this. They've never snapped, but just wear down. Has anyone seen any metal blades for this? Or replacement blades that are stronger/thicker and more robust perhaps?

Don’t you use the guard that pulls out ? It stops the blade catching on walls and boarders ect works really well

Bought this last year and it's very good. Does the job well and blades work better than spool.

But on edges, i.e. near fence, trees, corners etc spool should be better as its doesn't get snapped just slides or the blades are as flexible as spool?

Had this for 2 years now and it’s amazing, blades last ages. Quick and easy to work

Cheers OP needed a strimmer, I’m in the DeWalt eco system but happy to pay this price for a cordless even if does mean a diff battery (good that it comes with it). Ordered from Toolstation free next day delivery as none in stock at Wickes around me. Thanks!!

Used this for years now and have found it really good. The key thing is to make sure you use the Einhell blades as I have found all the generic ones I have tried to be a waste of time and money.

Agree, I have a Swift 40v strimmer, looked on Internet and bought a load of spare blades for cheaper, and they were crap. Went back to the Swift ones which are thicker and more robust. So I imagine the same applies with this make. So you recall the cost of the Einhall blades, and where from, I could always try those.
The Swift ones are £10.99 for 20 blades

I've had this strimmer for 2 years and I'm really happy with it, including the blades which usually last a long time. I'm still using the original supply of blades that came with it, that's how long they last.

However, I got it out for the first time this year and the same thing happened to 5 blades. Usually I could easily do the whole garden multiple times on one blade before it wears out, but suddenly they seem to be snapping off from the fixed end.

Anyone else had this happen before?
Same garden, same grass etc and using it in the same way as before so I assume the plastic has just degraded over the past 2 years?
    C.D's avatar
Might be wrong here, but looking at the photo, has it part melted the plastic where it has failed?

Will this manage to get through a load of stinging nettles? Or will the motor struggle due to it being battery powered?
    Mark_Moorby's avatar
I have a 20v strimmer that manages nettles fine.

Had one a couple of years and find it great-just buy the proper branded blades they are worth it. Hated using the old string types as as soon as you reloaded it it would snap or not feed properly right pain in the a!

Thanks. Just picked one up from my local store.

Note. The deal is for the strimmer on its own, then the battery pack is added for free in a separate box.

There is a box with everything together, this isn't the deal and costs £76.
